So what do we think the chances are that Gordon and Zeke actually don’t get new contracts and hold out?

I could Zeke not getting it because he has practically no leverage. He makes our offense better but our running game should still at the very least be serviceable, as well as our first six weeks on the schedule is the “easiest” portion of our whole schedule. And he’s doing it a year early, so him sitting out only hurts him by losing money now and if he goes over 6 weeks, it pushes his free agency out an additional year.

@EntryLevelDave I got a riddle for you. Why are Patriots fans prone to divorce?

because rings are meaningless when you cheat

All depends on the team records and how the backups do imo

Jerry probably loves Zeke holding out. If Dak plays bad Jerry uses that as the reason for not giving him a big contract and then they move on / find someone similar in the next draft. I could see Jerry thinking this way.

Dak playing without Zeke coincided with Tyron Smith being out for the first three games and his replacements were both practice squad level traffic cones. Once he didn’t have horrendous LT play, we went 4-0 without Zeke and averaging over 30 points a game.

This is all anecdotal of course, and I don’t expect for Dak and the offense to keep that up now but I feel like those first 3 horrible games overshadow how much he’s grown in the last 1.5 years since.

I think Gordon sits out until he has to return mid season to get an accrued season. If he holds out all season, he’ll still be under team control next year and be in the same situation all over again.

Gordon is 100% gonna sit out...he can save himself 10 games of punishment, still make $2mil for the 6 games he's there, and walk into free agency at 27 much like Bell did. And with his injury history, he is only getting 1 big deal, so might as well take the risk.

Zeke is screwed. They functionally own him for 3 years (w/ franchise tag in 2021), while they HAVE to pay Dak, Jones and/or Cooper this year. And if they dont rely on the RFA tag for Jaylon Smith, that's another guy they have to pay this year.

Holy shit. Dude was only 36. Looks like a woman also died.

Dude was a beast for a few years for Cincy. I remember he broke the streak of the Raven's D not giving up a rushing TD/100 yard rusher. I remember when he destroyed his former team (Bears) with like 189 yards and 2 TDs, it was a 45-10 game. He was basically the only one who showed up to play for the 2009 WC game vs the Jets.

    RIP

I don't know, I honestly feel like Jerry Jones is handling everything horribly. If I were him I'd pay Zeke, I know you shouldn't pay RBs but Zeke is a different monster. Zeke is just too important for the Cowboys imo.

Agreed. But just in case he isn't I picked up Tony Pollard in my dynasty league.

Jesus, just read about Cedric Benson. So sad.

I still think their kicker is not currently on the roster. Slye please

haha, oh man, just saw this. As if being an O-lineman wasnt hard enough...now you have to let your QB get murdered if a rusher gets upfield of them

May get free tickets to the Jags/Falcons game. So that's cool.

You're right about the nobody likes me part though, that's fair.

As an Eagles fan, I hope the Cowboys re-sign Zeke for reasons I and others have already discussed. I think Dak, Cooper, and Jones are more valuable to that team

This...exactly the opposite of this though. That offense has and will continue to go as Zeke goes, imo.

Our offense runs through Dak, not Zeke.

And your W-L record went down as they relied more on Dak...I dont think that disproves his point.

    2016 (54%): 5th in yards and points
    2017 (56%): 14th in yards and points
    2018 (62%): 22nd in yards and points

Maybe less Dak is good. Especially when the difference between 54% usage and 62% usage is like 200 more yards total and 1 less TD.

  26. Dinosaurs Dish

Thats incorrect, our record went down the second year and then up the third year.

We struggled in 2018 because our number one receiver was Allen Hurns. Once we got Cooper, Dak was top ten in stats nearly across the board, we went 7-2, and then we won the division and a playoff game. And the only reason our game wasn’t a blowout against the Rams was because of Dak. Our defense and Zeke completely fell flat on our face. Dak was the primary reason it was even a one score game by the end.
