Lol he’s trying to spin the tanking Dow and fears of a recession as a good thing by saying people are moving all of their money into bonds because they’re safe.

 

I was working at FedEx as a courier in 2008. I loved that job in the warm weather because I got to be outside a lot and meet a lot of cool people. I had a Countrywide Mortgage office on my route. The part of the office where they would leave outgoing packages happened to be all women and they were all super friendly.

I can vividly remember going in there on a nice, warm Friday afternoon for my regular pickup and I was in a great mood because it was gorgeous outside and I walked inside and everyone is in tears. I thought someone had died. Turns out they had all been let go / fired and were done that day. They were packing all their shit up into boxes. One of the women was visibly pregnant and she was crying pretty uncontrollably and some of the other people there were trying to comfort her.

That visual has always stuck with me.

 

I was working part time jobs at the time and my mom didn’t lose her job so we weren’t really impacted by the recsssion personally. We rented and had no assets so the housing market crash didn’t hit us either

 

I worked retail at the time. Got promoted to a managerial position, which was immediately eliminated because we were a smaller store in a smaller town. I was shuffled between departments for the next year and was treated like shit the whole time until they finally just said fuck it and let me go. My anxiety has never recovered from that and I'm eternally paranoid no matter how nice everyone above me at jobs treat me.
