I thought Up All Night actually sounded really good.

So they confirmed the EP then? I know they keep mentioning it.

Man, Wendy Clear sounds so good. Those harmonies with Matt during the chorus are spot on!

I have a feeling She's Out of Her Mind will do great as the next single. It's currently the band's 3rd most popular song on Spotify. Im pretty sure its grown faster than both Rabbit Hole and No Future.

Dumpweed. The fact that I keep thinking it's called "dumbweed" every time is also a sign to throw it in the garbage.

Feeling This gets most of the "action" but hearing Dumpweed for the first time when Enema came out changed my scale for openers

I'm just incredibly uncomfortable every time I hear it. It's not fun standing in the middle of a bunch of dudes singing it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It sucks that a song that rips as hard as Dumpweed is so gross and sexist lyrically. A lot of that is why I have a hard time with Enema of the State as a whole. I rarely revisit it as a whole and lately rank it in the bottom of their discography.

Ya, I went back and listened through the discography the other day and Enema went from being my longtime favorite to being towards the bottom. I used to think it was such a fun, carefree album but looking at it now I just can't bring myself to sing along with half of it and feel like such a chauvinist for thinking it used to be ok to sing about women in that way.

Wait - why? Because he says I need a girl that I can train? It's not literal... Most of the song is him worshipping this girl and saying how well he treats her and how he worships her but she is basically bi-polar and he can't make her happy. The need to have a "trained girl" is just venting that his chick is nuts and needs someone normal... Not literally needing to train a human.

Waiting to see @Audrey Horne 's response to this...

  18. The "I need a girl that I can train" line is unfortunate, but it's not even the worst line in their disco. "I'm so retarded" is much worse.

I can however separate the old from the new. I don't think that any of us believe they'd write lines like that today.

You just tried to make it sound okay that joking about *not* being able to "train" mental illness out of someone because you're frustrated with the person you're in a relationship in for not responding enough to being a "nice guy" *and* is not as bad as it is.....

    Fuck I can't type today.

But you have to take that line in context with the rest of the song. Taken out of context and focusing solely on that - of course it sounds bad.

....Oh my god. In no context is it any better.

Bi-polar was the wrong term to use. It's not literal mental illness... He is just dealing with a very emotional girl that has mood swings and he is frustrated with her.

So...Exactly what I said. He's mad he's not getting out of her what he wants and his solution is to complain about wanting a more docile partner in the worst way possible.

Yes - the frustrations of any teenage boy. It's not sexist... It's growing up and trying to find reasoning/logic behind girls fucking with your head and your heart. Choosing other guys over you even though you have given them everything.

    i.e. sexism
