I stepped on a truly massive house centipede in BARE FEET last month. It was dark and I thought I stepped on a rubber band, I turned the lights on and saw that sucker crawling away all fucked up.

A bad day in a very bad year.

In my sophomore year at college the dorm i lived in was damaged by a storm and the facade was sort of half ripped off in some places. It didn't effect me, but the guy in the room next door (with which I shared a connected bathroom) apparently had his bed right up against the window and woke up soaked and - according to him - covered in those things. Hellish

 

ugghhh the fucking worse and it happens. I'm in the north east and it rains constantly in the fall, it's not super uncommon to wake up to one of those fuckers crawling on you. It's the worst when you wake up, freak out, smack something but only find some legs in your bed.

 

I hate bugs. I’ve been in my current place for a year and occasionally I get spiders, which I HATE. Earlier this summer I had an ant problem but luckily maintenance took care of it. 9 years ago in a previous apartment I had bed bugs. The extermination was a month long process. But for me the experience was hellish, I no longer felt comfortable sleeping in my bed so I slept on the couch. The bugs found their way to the couch. Then I slept in a love seat. They found their way there. During the last week of extermination I slept on the floor using a pile of shirts as a pillow. I mean the worse they could do is bite you and suck up blood. But the thought of bugs crawling on me was nerve-racking.

I typically had to kill multiple house centipedes per day at my previous apartment. Literally hell on earth.

 

When I was ten, I saw a giant house centipede crawling on the wall and I tried to kill it by throwing my shoe at the wall and it crawled into a crack by the doorframe and I never saw it again

 

Growing up my friend had one in his basement and named him Frank. I don't know if it was always the same one but we'd see him frequently.

 

They are supposedly really good insects to have around but fuck that. Letting it live is a sure way to wake up with it on your body
