I love this post. I think there is actually a lot of potential in a 4-piece Blink line-up (even if it isn't Tom).

I think something that we lose by Tom being absent is some catchy guitar riffs. Alkaline Trio has their fare share of cool riffs but I wouldn't say it was their strongest quality. A second guitarist could help. Hell, they could even add a keyboardist in there too!

For the people have seen them live with Matt, is the GMA performance any indication for how they all sound together on stage? Or was that an anomaly. Because that GMA performance was really bad.

I think the chorus of No Future might be the worst thing on this album for me. I just don't think it sounds good.

Fuck Tom. I never ever want him anywhere near blink again.

They sound way better at 8pm than 8am

Is there a way to see how many times a specific song has been streamed on Spotify (other than the top 5 popular songs for each artist)? I want to see which California songs are receiving the most attention

I definitely hear MxPx in Cynical in the part where it gets fast up until Matt's vocals come in.

Thank you. I'm dumbfounded by the people that still want him in the band.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think it would really be possible for Tom and Mark to productively create music together again but I am a fan of Tom and the best version of Blink 182 includes his voice and songwriting nuances.

As much as I like the album, I think there is plenty to criticize about it.

Whatever riffs are lost from Tom is more than made up with the guitar tone, Matt and Mark harmonizing together, and the lack of borderline creepy stalkerish love song lyrics and actually enjoying themselves. In my daily quest to remind myself why I'm glad Tom is gone, I listened to Suburban Kings yesterday. Please stay away Tom.

Maybe fifteen years ago it did. Do you prefer Neighborhoods to California?

I think the fact that you have to remind yourself on a daily basis why you're glad Tom is gone is telling.

California by leaps and bounds. I prefer it to Untitled to tbh.

I feel like Alkaline trio had some dark/weird love lyrics.. Nothing that ever made me feel uncomfortable, same with blink.

So I think it's fair to say the best version of Blink for the last fifteen years or so does not include Tom.

I think if Jerry Finn were alive to produce Neighborhoods it would have been a fantastic album. The songs aren't bad. The mix was bad and the songs are inconsistent.

If you cut the fat and it were produced better, I might like it more than Untitled

It's more of me trying to understand what everyone else is missing in their daily critiques of this band with Skiba. And I'm not finding anything remotely missable. Just cause Tom can move his fingers faster than Matt doesn't make his riffs good and nothing I've heard on that EP is close to great. This guy isn't writing another What's My Age Again in his lifetime. And his last notable riff from Natives was basically borrowed from Young London.

I was a long time "Tom is my favorite of the three" Blink fan, who actually stayed with AVA up until the most recent EP and actually liked Neighborhoods....

Even I can admit this is the best they've sounded since reuniting, the best possible outcome for the band, that Tom has gone pretty much insane, and California is an amazing album well worth the blink-182 name and has an energy and life that Neighborhoods didn't. Tom leaving and Skiba joining was the best thing the band has done since Mark said "Blink-182 is back!" At that awards show in 2009.
