The library I work at hosts a weekly current events discussion group that is very well attended solely by old people who are almost certainly pretty wealthy. If you want to know what kind of political discussion topics come up in the wealthy northern suburbs of Chicago, here's a link

  8. Hmm, looks like bots are amplifying the #KamalaHarrisDestroyed hashtag on Twitter today.

I'm glad we're just doing the entire thing we did in 2016 again and every platform's like "oh wait you wanted us to actually like ... fix the shit we fucked up? nahhhh chief we got a new ugly ass web design to roll out instead"

  10. I can't get over the answer last night of "well, we trusted ..." and I'm screaming at the TV "no we fucking knew back then I was a barely functioning college freshman and I knew it was all bullshit what the fuck"

Of all the least surprising things to happen recently, Reagan being racist on tape is the winner.

Damn, it's depressing to see this community go along with a lot of the Tulsi Gabbard smears. I don't post here much, but I expected this forum to be more progressive than that based on my time posting on the AP politics board.

Why bother supporting someone like her when there are infinitely better candidates to choose from.

I will never understand Gabbard/Yang stans. Anyone who has posted here has posted things to back up their opinions.

If you want progressiveness, Gabbard ain’t the move

Besides Bernie, who is infinitely better? I am not saying she does not have valid criticisms, but all of the candidates do.

Is there even one way that Gabbard is more progressive than Sanders or Warren?

  18. This is still on her Twitter feed while people try and say she's the only anti-war candidate:

If Tulsi Gabbard actually was the candidate that some Tulsi stans believe her to be, I would very much support her.

But she isn't. At least not yet. Maybe she will get there.

I'm part of the Gallup panel and just got a survey yesterday about Trump's performance, so the next gallup poll on Trump's approval on certain issues will have my input woo!

She is certainly to the left of Warren on foreign policy at least: Elizabeth Warren Can and Should Do Better on Foreign Policy Warren also always votes for Trump's military budget expansions. Tulsi also showed up to Standing Rock, unlike Warren. With all that said Warren is still one of the best candidates of course. Based on some of the comments here, it seems like people would rather have Harris or Buttigieg which is crazy to me though.

I’d def take Harris or Pete over Tulsi, their policies won’t be too far apart from each other for me to justify being cool with Tulsi’s questionable views on voting rights and LGBTQ stuff

I mean I don’t like harris or buttigieg either, but I’ve seen no one praising them so I’ve seen no reason to jump on them

  24. Tulsi Gabbard Is Not Your Friend
Yet the starry-eyed anointment of Gabbard has obscured the more unsavory aspects of her politics — so unsavory, in fact, that White House adviser Steve Bannon has reportedly spoken well of her. From her vigorous opposition to the Iran nuclear deal to her obsession with “radical Islam” to her love for the far-right Indian leader Narendra Modi, Gabbard is far from the progressive hero many assume her to be. [...]

Not surprisingly, Gabbard has received plaudits from conservatives for her foreign policy stances. The National Review published a glowing profile of the congresswoman in April 2015, complete with a quote from American Enterprise Institute (AEI) president Arthur Brooks saying that he “like her thinking a lot.”

Gabbard was subsequently one of three Democrats — the others being New Jersey senator Cory Booker and Maryland congressman John Delaney — who secured an invitation to AEI’s annual closed-to-the-press retreat, where she hobnobbed with the likes of Dick Cheney, Bill Kristol, Mike Pence, Rupert Murdoch, the DeVoses, and a host of other major conservative figures. At the AEI’s urging, she had earlier spoken at the Halifax International Security Forum, an annual gathering of national security wonks sponsored by Lockheed Martin, Canada’s Department of National Defence, and others.
