This is the most salient example I have ever seen of a micro-aggression.

‪The dismissive and condescending tone she interrupts him with is an excellent example of white fragility. She can’t handle that a black person is intelligent enough to understand what she insinuated so in response she tries to gaslight/downplay that it wasn’t her expectation that he’d understand.

Please please please listen for this tone and posture being used when you see other minorities across gender, ethnic and class lines. It’s such a common display of power.

He lacks the humility to apologize for his past actions. He could have seen simply said something like “That was a long time ago, I should not have said that because I realize how wrong it is and I absolutely do not believe that anymore. I apologize for those comments”.

Instead he has to attack his attacker. And unfortunately it seems that a lot of people are content with how he handled it.

Pretty sure Tulsi's idea of no intervention is let's not send American troops to die, which almost always means they're okay with supporting other people killing and coups and other forms of economic and political violence.

  9. One of my biggest problems with any person in general is when they can't own up to previous mistakes. If you're willing to apologize and admit you were wrong, it goes a long way. Obviously, uh, voting in favor of the Iraq war is a pretty fucking extreme example, but you know what I mean.

My mom says that her favorite candidates from last night were Gabbard and Gillibrand.

Well, I'll accept one of those answers

Based off my personal experience with my co-workers, all the 50+ year old moms LOVE Joe Biden for the "strong, courageous, brave" man he is and are all voting for him. So hearing a mom out there liking those 2 over him is a win lol.

Maybe I'm in my own bubble here, but I have yet to see someone I know on social media or real-life enthusiastic about Biden.

The only place I'm seeing it is here at work. And there's like 5 of them. It is SO frustrating. This morning they were upset everyone was attacking Biden last night and I was like "yeah, did you see the night before where Bernie and Warren were against everyone and they actually defended themselves exceptionally well?"

My friend's parents initially wanted Biden when he first announced he was running and thought he had the best chance to beat Trump, but they have since decided that Bernie is the best. They also said they liked Castro last night.

But yeah, I haven't really seen anyone I know enthusiastically supporting Biden

  16. I don't really associate with many boomer centrist democrats, but there are a lot of them out there and I bet a majority of them love Biden!

Then again, I keep forgetting I live in the most white and conservative place in New Jersey, so it’s mostly just Trumpers here anyway.

I know SO many but they're all older. My parents are 60 and part of a group that campaigns locally for state and federal Democratic candidates and registers voters. What they're doing is awesome but I feel like that whole group would vote Biden were the primary today. My parents definitely identify as "moderate Democrats" and they think Biden has the best shot at beating Trump. I made my mom take that isidewith.com quiz and I think like Castro, Warren and Gillibrand were her top 3 and Biden was at maybe 70%. She's less moderate than she thinks but seems set on Biden anyway. I get that a lot from boomers.

Because of Trump my dad is now super anti-Republican and watches CNN all day but he has yet to express any particular candidate.

Same, after being a conservative for his entire life. He absolutely "can't stand" Warren though, and I have no idea who he is leaning toward.

Zero idea honestly, he just mentioned it at a dinner with my conservative grandparents haha. Probably something with her "socialist agenda".

    EDIT

My grandparents were going on a tangent about how much of a genius Trump is and how my grandmother doesn't think women should be president, so I think he said it as a concession to not upset them.

Heh yeah I'm definitely curious, it's just uncomfortable talking politics with him. His partner is far more left-leaning and has really opened up his eyes over the past few years, so I'm curious how they both really feel.
