Darkside for me is the first song I've been extremely stoked on. Sounds like a progression of +44 but with skiba too.

 

Saw some people in their social comments saying darkside sounds like a poppy I Found Away. Do you hear that?

 

Anyone know how to claim their CD copy of Nine from buying a concert ticket? I know it said every ticket comes with copy of that or the new lil Wayne record.

 

I received an email from Ticketmaster with a link to claim mine.

 

Even though I was all the way up on the lawn I thought blink sounded amazing last night. I was really impressed by how good Mark sounded and finally hearing Wendy Clear and Adams Song made the whole night worth while.

 

First off, fuck yeah that's gonna be an amazing day. New Blink, new Liam and new M83.....I'm not getting any work done that day!

The only real competition for the #1 spot that week will be Zac Brown. Blink's last album debuted with more equivalent albums sold (I think it was like 190k), but Bored to Death was also a more successful single. If they push Darkside or another single to radio soon and make a music video, I think they can possibly get their 3rd #1 album.

 

ZBB about to CRUSH blink first week. And second week... and third week.

 

I think blink will definitely be able to compete with getting a #1 album for that week

 

Yeah. Definitely no reason to predict they'll be CRUSHED lol

 

I agree about the verse/chorus transitions on Cali but I actually think these new verses are forgettable and the choruses are the best parts. The bridge on Happy Days is cool and I like the pre choruses on Darkside too but the verses are a bunch of nothing and the lyrics are weird and not in a good way haha.

Should clarify - meant the chorus portion - the rest of it 100% like Skiba.

The chorus though has the Feldmann distortion effect on the vocals that makes a lot of it sound the same regardless of the singer. Not knocking it - it’s catchy and sounds amazing, but can’t deny it’s kind of his calling card at this point.

 

I’m still kind of of shocked someone in here thinks the chorus to Darkside is the weak point.

The song is growing on me. I just tell myself its A New Hope version Ultimate. Hoppuss finally realized the dark side is whee it's at.

BIOMY finally clicked with me today when I heard it on the radio unexpectedly

 

Darkside is gigantic. I can see this song blowing up on the charts. BIOMY gets played at least once every hour or two on my local station already.

 

Love Darkside. It's easily my favourite of the four tracks so far. Only complaint is that I wish they switched it up vocally in the bridge a little bit.

 

Still don't think any of these are as catchy as best songs on California, but maybe they will grow on me. Still prefer Cynical, BTD, Shes out of Her Mind and Home Is Such a Lonely place to any of these songs. Generational Divide would be up there if it were longer.

 

Listened to the new song. I don’t understand any dislike. There’s so much going on in the song.


1.) Skiba’s verse sounds exactly like his side project Heavens.

2.) The pre-chorus and chorus could fit right on the Untitled album. Especially the melodies and guitar work.

3.) Mark’s verse and the bridge are straight up +44. Bonus: His bass tone is to die for.

4.) The song is guitar driven with a HUGE anthemic chorus.

5.) Travis’ drumming in the bridge is fucking fantastic.

6.) This song should be pushed as the main single and has me excited if the rest of the album is reminiscent of this song.


IDK what my friends were thinking when they told me this song sucked. I had to them they were wrong and that they sucked.

 

Wow what a blast from the past. I think I discovered that song through a webzine (Ourzone something?) at the time

 

So I listened to Darkside again for like the 8th time or whatever and so far this is 4/4 for me. Nine should definitely be better then California (especially compared with the singles released for California's rollout), The bridge in the song here is so classic blink that for a moment I was pretty sad that it wasn't Tom singing here. But seems to me these songs couldn't have been made with Tom so whatever.
