Not for the first time, I think I'm weirdly off base with this album cycle. Not feeling the Darkside love as much as most (feels like it could have fit right in the middle of California, and not in a good way), Happy Days is far and away my favourite. Absolutely in love with that one. Then BIOMY I am not too fussed on. GD is probably my second favourite of the 4.

I say not for the first time, as I didn't think BTD was anything special either, and people generally view that as the best post-reunion song.

I just really, really hope we get some single singer songs on this record. Give each vocalist a chance to breathe.

 

@bradsonemanband was dead on yesterday with how catchy the Darkside chorus is. Will not get out of my head.

 

I still can't stop humming it and singing it in my head. I've listened to the song 5 times now I think, but I feel like I've had this song in my head for years at this point.

 

Still can't believe how great Skiba sounds on Darkside. I wanted to love California but it just didn't do it for me. Whatever they're doing with this album though feels like hitting their stride. Pretty dang excited for it!

 

I'm excited that we've only heard songs in the first half of the album. I hope the bottom half goes into some uncharted territory.

 

And haven't heard the first or last songs! My biggest music pet peeve

 

Yeah I was glad BIOMY wasn't track one like someone reported. Love hearing the first track fresh with the album

 

When they released the opener, 2nd track and closer as pre-album releases for Sleepwalkers from Brian Fallon I was so upset. I couldn't hold off from listening either. I love not knowing the opener and closer!

 

How do you see this info on  music? I love these details! Rdio was so good at stuff like this if I remember correctly :(

Also, I absolutely loved CA/DLX but my excitement for this record blows that out of the water for some reason. Very excited even though this roll out seemed clumsy at times.

lastly, while I kinda get why mark would have explained the title on reddit, he should have done it here. Maybe he’ll do SOMETHING here?

For example, Andrew Watt and Feldmann are on "I Really Wish I Hated You."

All of these new Blink songs just aren’t for me at all. “Darkside” sounds like Metro Station or any neon-pop synth band from 10 years ago.

 

Such a pet peeve of mine I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Hot - yes. But I seriously just listened to “Darkside” and “Seventeen Forever” back to back and... yikes. The similarities in style and delivery are 100% there.

 

Metro Station wouldn't be selling their hair on IndieGoGo or whatever they're doing now if they could write songs like "Darkness."

 

Did... did they really sell their hair?

 

Darkside reminds me more of an influence of 80s synth stuff, not quite neon-pop. Chorus gives me "I Found A Way" vibes. Similar beat, similar mood, just not quite as dark, fuckin love it.

 

All the more disappointing that Blink is releasing music in the style of bands from 10 years ago.
