Sorry for being a jerk I need to just focus on what I like as opposed to what I don't.

How great is it that we get to enjoy this album on 4th of July weekend!?

I believe you just need to understand music is a matter of opinion. If you think your opinion is the only logical thing in the discussion, you actually become the most illogical. A sharing of opinions is never a bad thing. It's when you belittle other people's thoughts and intelligence over an opinion is where people cross the line.

I get this album isn't for everyone. I do. Some people prefer Tom. I get it. It's the posts like "I don't know how anyone can like California" that are so narrow minded, it's almost infuriating. People love different things. It's that simple. People need to respect that.

    End rant.

    Amen, sir!

maybe the most radical thing about this record is how many bridges their are. blink are traditionally allergic to bridges

Yeah you won't find me on threads of bands or records I don't like. Life is too short and too shitty to worry with things you don't like. Sorry you don't like the record - there's plenty of music out there that's amazing and I hope you find something that makes you happy! :)

The first half of this is definitely stronger than the second half imo.

I feel the opposite. The run from "No Future" through "California" is killer.

Nothing spectacular, no, and I think California is loads better than anything they did with Tom after the reunion, but I wouldn't call the opening riff to Natives "not good" :P.

I really do love this album, though. I'm replaying Los Angeles and The Only Thing That Matters constantly haha I'm going to be sick of them before you know it.

    Edit

Just realizing, the beginning of The Only Thing that Matters reminds me of Dick Lips, Waggy and some of Enema of the State, in the best ways.

Not sure I hear RBF.. without horns and constant upstrokes, RBF is just a pop punk band anyway, so I guess if you're just comparing all fast-tempo pop punk? Blink always played like that live, the fast tempo makes me think of The Mark Tom and Travis Show.

Using this album with headphones in as an excuse to do all the household chores my fiancé usually wishes I did lol. I will say it just keeps getting better the more I learn the songs. Kings of the weekend has grown on me, really the only one I'm still iffy on is teenage satellites but even then I still like it. Sober, cynical, she's out of her mind, Los Angeles, sandiego, left alone, the only thing that matters and the three officially released songs I'm in love with lol

Won't lie. Kings of the Weekend was one of my early favorites. Loved every single thing about it. The energy, the message, the guitar. Glad it's growing on you!

Even though its been less than a month and only like 30 plays, I would say at this point that I like California more than I ever did Enema, and absolutely way more than Neighborhoods, and would put it on the level of TOYPAJ and Self-Titled. It's hard to rank it against the old albums really. Hopefully there's much more to come from Blink 2.0. The future for the gang is brighter than ever before.

Remember when all the people who heard early tracks said they were Mark songs with Skiba on background harmonies? Wtf were they talking about

We should all take a moment to appreciate just how great Skiba's guitar tone is.

I really want to say that cynical is a no use for a name reference especially since they were a California band as well.. Probably not tho

My local radio station is calling this weekend "blink-182 weekend" at the beginning and end of most commercial breaks. I love it.

Also I showed my mom Home is Such a Lonely Place and she started crying since I'm going to college soon. Such a bittersweet song.

Haha oh my god YES. One of my biggest gripes with Tom post reunion was his decision to switch from the Mesa cabs to the Vox combos, and basically ditching that dirty distortion. Blink songs sound empty enough live with just the three of them, the cleaner tone made them sound even worse.

I've been on vacation since the leak came out so I've been listening to it in headphones ever since. I know the bulk of the words so all I've been looking forward to is getting home to my truck so I can actually SING them out loud.

PS does anyone know where to download the bonus song (legally if possible)?
