I'm not usually one of those people to get hung up on these type of things, but what criteria are we using to call something pizza? Roundness? The fact that it is some things put on top of an other thing?

I would have always said that dough, tomato sauce & cheese makes pizza.

Then again, I have been told that I am a heretic and a blasphemer because I love pineapple on my pizza.

Yeah I've been in Mpls several years now and have never seen anything close to such an abomination

 

To me a pizza is really about the dough and cheese. It can still be a pizza without sauce. And there are pizzas with sauces other than tomato sauce (ex. BBQ chicken pizza, which is chicken, BBQ sauce, and cheese).

And while typically round, it doesn’t have to be. Sure, you can have a square pizza, or even a triangle lol. Sicilian pizza is square so there’s that
