Still working my way through my first listen - Collision encapsulates everything I love about this band.

Edit: bloody hell, this album just keeps getting better as it goes on

Is the same drummer from Illumination Ritual on this album too or do they have a different drummer again for this album?

This is really enjoyable, I’m going to love this once fall hits

Chris mentioned in a podcast that he writes most of the drum parts himself. I think they do have a different touring drummer these days, too.

Time, The Destroyer is even better in context of the album

Yeah, it is. The run from it through "The Journey" is incredible.

I just listened to the podcast he did on Washed Up Emo and he said he has a big say in the drum parts, but he said Nick Fredrickson was the drummer on the new album and it sounds like he's an official member of the band rather than just as a touring drummer.

I do find it interesting that they've had a different drummer for every album since Josh Baruth left.

Would it be apt to just start at the beginning with this band?

I’d personally start with Low Level Owl but that’s also how I got into them so I’m a little biased. I don’t really think you can go wrong though.

End of the ring wars and even mare vitalis sound like a different band than what they’d become tbh. Two conversations is probably the most accessible imo

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I’m probably just gonna start with LLO

Low Level Owl as a whole could be a little daunting but part one is a great entry point. I don’t think I listened to part two for a while actually but it’s equally good.

I think Mare Vitalis is the best entry point. Great album that shows where the came from but has glimpses of where they’d go. Makes LLO better when you see the leap they made.

I’d do MV first as @Haruni said & then go in order but do not get discouraged if MV doesn’t do it for you because of what @Leftandleaving said

LLO is one of my fav records ever but 2C is up there & is more accessible

I still have not listened to TEOTRW yet, but maybe I will tonight/this weekend as I revisit their discography. I don’t think an Appleseed Cast album has been as immediate for me as the new one has. I love it a lot

end of the ring wars is a decent mineral album but not a great appleseed cast album

ring wars is good but its absolutely a 90s emo album and not a post rock one

I'd heard a few songs from LLO previously, but my main entry point for the band was Peregrine. That might be a good place to start if you like their more post-rock sound.

I find LLO and Sagarmatha much more in line with a post rock sound than Peregrine imo

almost as if you’re implying Mineral are not as good as the AsC in which case I feel reluctance to co-sign

Def not what I’m implying, just that you go into an Appleseed cast album expecting an Appleseed cast album, and not a mineral album
