Also according to Reddit some dude thinks Transvestite is the best blink-182 song, so there's that.

 

At least they have that wonderful new Surrender bundle to satisfy them.

The chorus did sound different. Like the vocals had more effects or something.

 

They really need to work on BTD. Everything else is great.

lol I feel bad for all people who can't see past Tom and don't think this is real Blink. This is more real Blink to me than anything they've done since 2003.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but every song is up on blink's youtube if that's anything anyone is interested in! They're lyric videos but a couple don't have the fancypantz effects.

 

I've been wondering the same thing... Maybe he sold music rights to them for commercials

 

Mark's response vocal sounds like it has a different effect on it, and there's an added harmony on the word "going back" right before the chorus kicks in. Really interesting. I like this one better!

EDIT: Also sounds like there's another guitar part in the second verse.

EDIT EDIT: Then at 1:50 it sounds like the bg vocal goes "Ca-can't"

 

Been listening to this new Album all nonstop and the true test comes when I can listen to it on my walk during lunch. IfI were to gauge my excitement based on how often I caught myself air drumming this Album has got to get a 10 out of 10 for me!

 

I better get my official album download and check this out!

 

The air drumming temptation is undeniable on this album.

 

This album really feels like they ran into the studio, wrote and recorded the entire thing within 3 weeks and then said "done". While I enjoyed it for the most part, I really feel like the songs could have benefited from more of a gestation period. Get in the same room and jam it all out. Explore different ideas and avenues with each song. While I am sure they did do this, it sure does feel like they tried a little too hard to recapture their sound from 15 years ago.

Also, it seems to really be lacking any strong hooks. Most of their albums have pretty recognizable guitar riffs and or vocal hooks. After about 3 listens, nothing is really standing out yet. While Skiba is a better singer then Tom, I do miss their contrasting vocals.

Don't get me wrong. I definitely enjoy listening to it, and while Blink has never been known for their lyrically abilities, there is something off putting about a 45 year old singing about wanting to see naked dudes in a pool.
