We're not the Nuclear War Now forums. We won't ridicule if we deem something as "false." I mean I mostly listen to black, death, or experimental bands, but I just stayed out of the conversation involving metalcore bands like Killswitch because I'm mostly indifferent towards the genre. So post away if you think it is metal, someone here will probably like it even if others dont.

Has Employed to Serve's full length dropped yet? I was into the singles that were posted here.

New Baroness album sounds incredible. What is going on with the Dave Fridmann smack?

I agree with you, but I can definitely see why some people would be adverse to it. It's definitely in a different ballpark than Purple. I still think the Blue Record is probably my personal favorite production job on Baroness album after all these years despite...it's the perfect mix of the grime of their earlier stuff and the crispness of later releases.

I watched the Melon review for Gold and Grey and was so confused by what he was saying. After throwing the record on again, I can see the basis of a lot of his criticism, but I still think the album slaps on every level.

I think he makes some pretty valid points. There are a few songs I can get into on it though.

Fridmann just does not work well with Baroness' sound and I can't for the life of me figure out why they've worked with him twice now. They just need to work with John Congleton again, because Blue Record and Yellow & Green both sound fucking phenomenal. Or maybe Brendan O'Brien (whose records with Mastodon sound great) or something.

I get not preferring Fridmann’s sound, but to call it atrocious it or whatever is simply not true. Dude has such a unique sound compared to so many other producers, especially when it comes to metal music.

I much prefer Baroness’ sound with Fridmann over Congleton. The atmosphere and effects Friddman creates are so captivating and I love how much he brings out the psychedelic side of the band’s sound more

I know he is not well liked here but I definitely recommend listening to theneedledrop’s review of it. He points out some things that pretty accurate while being a bit harsh at times.
