People can be jaded and cynical all they want I guess, just don’t know when it became the defacto response for a band known for light hearted ness and joking around and being goofy.

“Production delays” is pretty frequently used for tours with low ticket sales. They’re not going to say “yeah, not enough people bought tickets so we’re cancelling”

I still honestly can't tell if people are genuinely THIS obsessed with the logistics and ticket sales of a touring rock band. Feels like some other kind of cruel need to find something to rub in the world's face. The fact that it's all taking place on venues that are ostensibly "for fans" makes it all the more bewildering...

 

You guys complaining about postponed shows and blink hasn't come to NZ in 20 years....

I just find it amazing how Blink fans get offended when Blink gets criticized. I just never understood why it matters if a band gets criticized for something.

 

“Being criticized” is not what I said. I asked why a fan base got cynical to the point where they cheer for cancelations and think a band is lying to them as a default. That’s not criticism.

 

Yes I do. I think given the circumstances, that is the most likely scenario in this case.

 

I did see them twice when they came to Australia in 2013 with Brooks Wackerman. TIme of my life!

So, that returns me to my original question ... when did the band’s fan base become so cynical, especially when they’re a band most known for goofing around and Mark’s been extremely upfront and honest with fans for years now (especially compared to other artists of this size)? I somehow missed the transition into the “my favorite band lies to me” phase of fandom. (Thankfully, cause I don’t think I’d follow a band if I truly believed they were lying to me and treated me like I’m dumb.)

 

I mean just last year the same thing happened with Nicki Minaj. Really low ticket sales at an amphitheater tour -> “production delays, tour postponed” -> cancelled all together

 

Like, I have no words.

I actually think blink has been one of the more honest about reasons for canceling shows. Tbh they probably should've made up reasons that would've been found more acceptable by fans some of those times

 

My bet is they start the tour, postpone it by saying they’re going to finish the album, and then similar sized venues in the fall with either a completely different bill, cheaper tickets, or both
