  1. I think for the price they got him it was a great move. They were likely to trade Bishop even without signing Stamkkos. Losing both around the same time would be tough to swallow.

But yeah, I'd go ahead and trade Bishop.

They got rid of carle, they have 12 now. That was probably written beforehand.

It was posted hours before the Carle buyout so that was funny to see.

  4. The more I read into it the more it sounds like the Wiz buy out was related to the expansion draft. Hanifin, Pesce, Slavin are all exempt. Hainsey and Wiz are free agents next summer. That leaves Faulk as the only guy that fits under the "40/70 rule". There's no way we expose him. So we buyout Wiz and sign another vet to a 2-year deal and expose him for the expansion draft.

I think that makes sense. But it's all confusing to be honest.

  5. But we're still way under the floor. Even after giving Rask his deal we'll be 4-5m below. We gotta spend some cash.

Is Okposo worth the $7m AAV that he's looking for? I wouldn't mind seeing the Preds make a play for him.

    probably not

hes most likely a ~55 point player

probably worth around $5.5-6 in a perfect world, but free agency

There's always a couple guys who will never quite look right with their new teams. Subban is now one of them.

Yes. Great two way forward, with top 6 minutes you can reasonably expect 20+ goals and 60-70 points. Also is excellent in regards to shot suppression and possession.

can he play both wings since I'd imagine he be on the top line with the Joes if they take a legit shot at him?

Man, just thinking about it for a minute, Edmonton could have a disgusting wealth of great young defensemen if a few small things went differently.

They coulda had Murray over Yak - which is extra painful 'cause the majority of Oiler scouts reportedly wanted Murray and their GM overruled.

They took Nurse one spot ahead of Ristolainen.

They were in on Dougie Hamilton and Neely being a vindictive fuckass traded him to Calgary over Edmonton when Edmonton's offer was slightly better (still a combination of 1st and 2nd round picks - Edmonton's 1st was one spot lower, but the two seconds were about 10 spots higher if I recall).

And they were in on Seth Jones and would've gotten him too if Columbus hadn't stepped up and offered RyJo.

Of course with all that considered, they probably don't land McDavid, but, is that really a worthy trade-off?

Yessir originally slotted as a top 6 RW but his concussions played two years as third line LW

Its hard to say how much better or worse they would be but you'd probably choose the likelihood of having the next superstar over a bunch of good players

Interesting. I'd imagine the idea here is getting him for first line allowing Hertl to center the third line but I don't know if money can work.

He probably like around $6 million and some term.

They'd still have Hall, Hopkins, Drai and Eberle + potentially another top pick from the McD draft. Their fwd group would still be in great shape.
