I feel like it’s kinda pointless to compare how a rock band does on the radio in the early 2000s compared to 2019. Completely different landscapes.

 

And they did it again in the Man Overboard video.

 

True. But even if you compare BIOMY to BTD, BTD was only up 3 spots from where BIOMY is.

 

I wonder if BIOMY would have done even better if there was an accompanying music video. I know music videos aren't really anything special anymore, but if they had made a cool one, it could have gotten them more YouTube plays than a lyric video would at least.

 

Eh, maybe. I mean I wouldn't call BTD a 'cool' music video.

Just looking it up and BTD's music video came out on June 20th so that was almost 2 full months after BTD was released. So BIOMY's music video, if following BTD's pattern should come out the last week of June or so.

 

"Not Now" was a lead single. The others were to point out that no, not every Blink single goes to the very top of the charts on the radio, even very popular and considered "hit songs" by the fanbase.

And this song's still climbing the charts, it could still go top three if they keep pushing it. No video yet. Or it might not, but the relative positioning on the radio chart doesn't make a top 15 song there, and a top ten on the chart that takes streaming into play, a failure. (I'd argue the exact opposite.)

Your "fact" is "the song didn't do as well as other lead singles" -- that does not mean the song did badly. The entire argument I've been making from the start is that the song is a success and doing really well! I have not said it did as well as "All the Small Things" because ... it hasn't. So comparing it to that is, sure, "a fact," but ultimately irrelevant to what I've been saying because the entire case I've been making is "look at how successful it's been, right now, in 2019." If you would have told me Blink-182 would still be able to crack the top 10 hot rock songs chart (since I like including streaming numbers), I would have told you you're nuts. And it peaked only three spots back than "Bored to Death" and "Up all Night" on that chart.

This "these two different things are the same" is just silly. Toxic behavior versus pointing out that a song is actually popular are not the same.

 

That video should maybe hurt their legacy tbh

 

SAME! Back in the day I never once heard that one on the radio. I remember seeing the music video and stuff, but never thought of it as a “hit” I kind of just filed it under “fan favorite”

 

Come on making fun of little people is funny (says some director back in 2000).

I only remember that because I was an MTV addict and watched Making The Video constantly.

 

Ok I thought it was on a Making The Video but wasn't sure. It was just All The Small Things and Man Overboard right? Or was there another music video that was featured on that show too.

Also I really liked how the music video tied in the Enema music videos but even in 2000 thought it could have been "handled much better".

 

The same guy who directed "Man Overboard" also did "WMAA" and "ATST"

Wow, Always did that bad? Just goes to show I lived in my own little bubble when I was a teen, I thought that song was huge!

EDIT: The word "bad" is a relative term here.

 

Apparently it did really we as a video, but less well on radio.
