    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

Feldmann produced songs from both there records so trolls are now comparing them to Blink, so you didn't really miss anything.

If I had to play one song to introduce what Blink is all about to someone, hands down it would be (Feeling) this.

I am an enormous fan of "Left Alone." It's undoubtedly my favorite track on the album. I've been pretty vocal about it haha

With that said! After a good 12 spins or so, I like "Sober" as next single choice. "Los Angeles" feels like it's ready too. Like I said yesterday, it has all the elements of a current alt-radio hit (see: twenty one pilots). "She's Out of Her Mind" feels like it might be too dated for the majority? The harmonies on that song are what make it so effective and memorable IMO.

anyone figure out what's going on with that show tonight in NYC? it sounds like there's a live stream, but the site says that's July 6th.... where it ceases to be live haha

The Blink 182 self-titled album disagrees with all of this.

What songs from this board ended up making the album, and more importantly, which ones didn't make it? I can barely read any of that shit, ha. "Hey, I'm Sorry" is on it though!

  13. Not really. Some truly awful lyrics on that sucker too. Hell, everyone is praising "Feeling This" which has some of the worst verse lyrics out there...

Sure. But what I mean is, they didn't write the self-titled thinking those lyrics were corny/silly even if we all did. They wanted to be dead earnest. That's what I mean.

Allmusic generally hires competent and informed writers, unlike, ohhhhhh, Rolling Stone or NME.

    I am a haunted house. I'm superstitious.

Well, I agree 100% with this:

"The release's most straightforward moments are also some of the best. Opener "Cynical" blasts through two minutes of belted out vocals, crunchy guitars and Travis Barker's bonkers drumming, while "Left Alone" is an anthem that stands alongside many of the band's best."

These are definitely the best songs on the album.

I would definitely never really argue in defense of any Tom DeLonge/Mark Hoppus lyrics as "great" or truly remarkable, but I actually like the marriage of "Feeling This" 's lyrics with the music: the simplistic shouting of phrases that are just simple, straightforward sexual desire and imagery works, though sure they're not ultimately very poetic or poignant. Then juxtaposed with the slowed down, more melodic chorus, which is again not really anything revalatory or really incredible, they inform each other really well. When I think of blink-182 lyrics, I don't think of them like I do Springsteen or anything, I think of words that inform a theme at least adequately, and at best in a generally straightforward, yet effective or catchy way. Lyrics that feel like they mean something and just flow beautifully in melody with the pop punk around them, like a "Going Away to College" or "Apple Shampoo".

Side note: Tom has gotten really, really bad at that. When he really digs to make his lyrics more profound or vivid, he suffers real real bad with AVA and Neighborhoods/DED. We talked about "Pretty Little Girl" and "Sirens", just horrible. I feel like Mark actually fares better when he's pushed himself. He can be hit or miss but there's some strong stuff on the +44 record

  24. I think it's a great song, for many of the reasons mentioned, I do, however, still think the lyrics are as bad as the stuff people are making fun of this album for having on it.

For the record, I wasn't saying that every release had to be corny/stupid. Just mentioning that it's always been a part of this genre.
