Blink is up to 23 on the Active Rock chart. Up 8 spots from last week

  15. Yeah, that song's doing well on two radio formats now. Pretty cool.

(Sidebar: "Trampoline" is killing it right now as well.)

  16. Creating alt accounts badly, and then actively going at me in the most hilariously bad way possible ... is ... a choice.

I maintain Neighborhoods is a terrible record.

  18. I tried to listen to it again a week or so, and it suffers from needing an editor and more time with everyone being ok with saying "no" to each other.

Yeah I always felt trying to write a comeback album (with 8 years of hype and expectations) mostly in different rooms, states, and countries via email without a producer probably was not the BEST format for success.

I’ll still give it some spin time every September, and I do like it, but it’s faults are very glaring.

Yep, definitely shows the awkwardness between the band members, but it’s ok. Not a record I listen to much but I wouldn’t call it bad either

Yeah as much as it all feels like a random collection of songs/ideas thrown together, there were some glimpses of great stuff in there a few times.

I’m sure it wasn’t fun for Mark to sit and wait by himself while Tom wrote and recorded his songs on his own. Imagine everyone asking you “How’s the new record coming along?” and you honestly have no idea. Haha.

Little late, but in defense of thinking shows sounded better with Tom, I went to one of the ‘09 reunion shows and I couldn’t believe how good it sounded. I was surprised.

I later watched some video from that show and realized it didn’t actually sound that great.

When you’re in the moment and everything is live, it’s easy to kinda miss the things that make it sound so shitty (like Toms singing and playing)

I think After Midnight is a great blink-182 song. The rest of the album’s songs fit into tiers from good (Up All Night, Ghost, Wishing Well, Even If She Falls), half baked idea that needs more work (Natives, Kaleidoscope, Hearts All Gone) to this isn’t good (rest of the songs).

But it’s probably my 2nd least favorite blink album. It’s just too all over the place for me. I kind of view it as a demo album waiting for a producer to get their hands on it.

This is easily Mark’s worst work and all of the Tom only songs just feel like leftover AVA ideas trying to rework it to fit in blink’s style.

What even is this thread today?

On the trolls: yeah not entertaining any of the three trolls currently posting in this thread. Especially the ‘real fan’ one.

On neighborhoods: I think neighborhoods is a decent record that gets too much hate. It has some solid songs. Natives, after Midnight, Up All Night, Even If She Falls, Wishing Well, Hearts All Gone. All jams. It suffers a bit from the disjointed and non cohesive finish though. I definitely think California is a more cohesive and better record despite what the sacred tomes of Facebook comments say.
