I’ve never seen them. I had a chance to in Washington DC and missed it cause I was broke :( but it was touring There Is No Enemy and I don’t care for that album as much as most their others.

Definitely not missing them post-Untethered Moon though, I LOVE that record

When I lived near Baltimore/DC I also missed Sonic Youth when they were still together, fuck, that one STILL stings

 

Okay but the worst “missed show” ever for me was Death Cab’s last small-club tour. They were my favorite band for a long time, and I still regard everything before Codes & Keys as top notch indie rock music

I clicked the link to buy tickets the exact minute they went on sale.

They sold out in 4 seconds before my browser could refresh.

I missed Camp Cope and Foxing and that hurt but I saw them back to back last week and that was great. Smaller venue for Camp Cope too. Cap under 100.

That’s crazy. The largest bands I’ve seen at venues that small are Lady Lamb, Kaki King, East India Youth and Kevin Devine.

Lady Lamb has BLOWN up since then, Kevin Devine is basically always playing small gigs in most cities unless he is on another band’s tour. Kaki and EIY are both enormous in Europe but have a half hearted following here.

 

Today is not so lit however

 

I saw Kevin Devine in a crowd of MAYBE 15 people at Bonnaroo before I even knew who he was haha. I just knew i was tired and wanted to sit haha.

 

Lady Lamb has played in my living room. She did a living room tour similar to the one David Bazan did. It was her first show EVER in Florida. /swtbrag

I actually just found her thank-you card while packing. several of my friends in town came too and I didn’t even realize they knew about her.

She was that artist I felt like I “discovered”. I saw one of her first tours, with Kaki King in DC at Howard Theatre/Restaurant, which was fancy and unconventional haha.

Then she played at another, more tour friendly small venue called DC9. Then the third tour she’s playing at DC’s huge venue, 9:30 club.

The show I hosted her after moving to FL was my fourth time seeing/meeting her haha... so at that point she fully knew who I was. But I had no idea she had gotten big enough, that 75 people in a town she’s never been in, would buy tickets and fully pack out my living room.

 

yeah I remember it being impossible to get tickets to that but I've seen them twice so it's okay

 

I made up for it by taking a week vacation to Seattle for Bumbershoot 2013 and seeing them play Transatlanticism start-to-finish for its 10th anniversary

 

Took jojo to low cost vet place and now this is her bf

 

Well that was the first night of decent sleep in a week. Also, finally canceled my auto insurance as a payment was due today; they'll actually be giving me some money back since I wasn't driving it for a few months and registered it as nonoperational with state, so that's a cool plus.
