I definitely don't think it's subpar - I think it is a phenomenal album. I just don't think it is in the running for greatest album since music was invented or anything. I would say it continues their streak of incredible albums, and they definitely threw the gauntlet down for Jimmy Eat World later on this year.

My version of it just has 12 tracks and one song is moved around in the sequencing.

 

@Brother Beck where would you put Rylan?

 

I have it at track 4. I think it needed to be way up in the tracklist.

 

My unpopular opinion is that I still have not heard the new national album

 

It's almost as if this is an opinion about the medium of music that many people might disagree with. An "unpopular music opinion" if you will.

 

I was in the boat that The National record is too long too but then Flying Lotus dropped 27 tracks today and I can’t enough, lol. So clearly the length isn’t the problem for me

 

I dont have as much issue with longer / double albums as most people.

 

IIRC these records are both 66 minutes exactly lol

 

Yeah, if, “The new National album isn’t one of the greatest albums of all time,” is a hot take, I may be in danger even in the unpopular thread. Lol.

Oh I don’t even mean takes I disagree with or are baffling, there are some that cross over into the actually problematic realm and can be pretty jarring compared to, “I’m not into this forum favorite band,” posts.

I love Queens of The Stone Age but Josh Homme is such an unlikable person

 

I can't listen to them after he kicked a woman
I also have no tolerance or patience for the whole QOTSA Foo Fighters this is a rock show let's rock vibe, like it feels tone deaf to me personally, I need shows to feel inclusive

 

I love U2, and I'm pretty sure he sleeps with it on.

 

U2’s albums this century probably have some good stuff but they’ve put out one tolerable single since 2000 so I can’t be bothered
