But do you think everyone at the show would be like "its cool I forgive you" about it or does being drunk not absolve you of consequences?

Idk I don't think what was in the video was a big deal but I can understand why someone would be like "nah fuck this" after going to the show

 

I'm assuming @Henry was there because it was in NY/NJ and Henry has been to every show in that radius

Talking about substance abuse as an excuse for behavior is a touchy subject, definitely blurs the line because you have fucks defending Jonny Craig cause he is a drug addict but then again there are people who get help and get clean and aren't rapists/abusive pieces of shit, honestly don't know much about Saves the Day but I hope he got help if alcohol was the catalyst of the situation, or at the very least stopped drinking while they performed.

Other side of the coin is that I've been to a few shows lately where people are talking so fucking loud while a band plays and it's so disrespectful and makes me wonder why people even go to shows sometimes. Doesn't mean you go off like that at a crowd though lol.

To me, you have a job. You don't show up to your job drunk. If you do, you get fired and/or referred to help. Chris has done stuff like this before. There gets to be a point where it is inexcusable. If he has nights like this and doesn't seek help, I can't support him.

My going to a concert and getting blasted has no impact on much of anything. He has a few hundred people who paid to see him perform, not tear into them and storm off.

 

Furthermore if you went to a concert and got wasted and started a commotion at the show you'd get thrown out

 

It’s also pretty easy to have some drinks and NOT do that.

I think it's important to reflect on yourself and on your imperfections, on nights where you have done shit you definitely regret. Only difference is we did it in front of a few people because we aren't frontmen for very popular bands. I'm just cracking at Henry because I like to do that, but also for obvious reasons i'm gonna empathize with someone who clearly had too much to drink that night and I definitely think has some substance abuse issues.


He also got pissed because the crowd was being rude, it wasn't unprovoked.

That happened the other night at the Cursive/mwY show. I can't believe people go to shows and just bullshit the entire time.

 

I believe he has sought out help though and is doing much better now.

 

Yeah I feel you, I've just seen a lot of musicians react to rude crowd in pro as hell ways and handle the situation

 

I'm not saying either side is blatantly right or wrong, but you guys know my background, i'm empathetic to a fault.

I think we excuse too much in the music scene because of the nature of the business, idk I've been around tours and getting plastered every night and going up and playing like shit/being an asshole to fans is inexcusable to me but something I've seen far too often. Like @Henry said it is your job, and you should treat it with a level of professionalism at least. And his bandmates should hold him accountable as well.

I feel like if you're at a show watching a band maybe don't talk that loudly. It's a live performance. There's rules for watching movies and no talking and cell phone use in the theater and I'm not saying there should be rules for concerts but maybe there should be an understanding.

Im not going to get mad at an artist performing and getting mad at the crowd for being rude/obnoxious.

I'm not really a saves the day fan outside of a few songs though.

 

I also think it's easy to say how professional you would act if you were a frontman of a band when you really have no idea what it's like.
