I guess but $26000 split between all the the 3 bands members and all the cowriters, producer, mixing, engineering people etc doesn't seem that much. They have money from all the other platforms to add in too I guess. Not that I think they're going broke or anything haha. I don't know how much it actually costs to make a song these days.

In a "big" mainstream type band or relatively small one? I hope small bands can still make money.

  2. Oh someone already posted something similar.

  3. For one song, one one platform, in two weeks? Extrapolate that with the rest of their catalog ("Bored to Death" has 94m plays on Spotify) and all the other platforms, and yeah, they're making money off streaming. That doesn't mean every band is, but they are.

And how it gets split depends on who has what % or points on what with publishing. (I really doubt any 'engineering people' are seeing royalties from the songs.)

  4. Man that's crazy. .0075 seems paltry at first but then you start looking at numbers this size and you're kinda like -- oh okay!

ONE song on ONE platform even split three ways over 3 years is more than I have made in that time. Hell yeah

  5. AND royalty rates should go up, Spotify fucks everyone over and actively wants to try and lower their rates.

I was just curious about the income from ONE song rather than the whole catalogue but you're right I wasn't thinking about it long term since it's only been out 2 weeks. I'm sure they're Scrooge Mcducking it in their mansions from all their other music. (And I'm not sure if you're making fun of me for using the term engineering people like I'm 6 years old but I looked on wiki and 10 other people worked on the song and had to group them somehow! haha)

  7. No, not making fun, just quoting ... I'm just saying that only certain people have mechanical royalties on a song, not everyone is going to see $ from it even if they worked on it.

Usually mixers/engineers/producers are paid once up front and don’t get paid for rights to the songs.

Split between band management and label tho.

Also 26k on Spotify so probably the same or more with apple, youtube, and google. I’m sure it’s doing real well

Completely agreed on that. I remember being excited one his reverb sale a few years back and I was just astounded at what he did to those guitars. Flat-out ruined them in my opinion. I highly doubt Mark would do the same to his basses.

I stopped by my old work today and a 40+ year old guy there was a big blink/AVA fan. I asked him if he was going to the blink show in July and this was his response:

“The ticket prices are too much for me, but either way, I really didn’t want to be surround by all those Lil Wayne people.”

maybe someday people will realize that you can't figure out a human based on the music they listen to, but apparently that day isn't today.

I wonder if Tom gets any royalties from any of post-Tom era songs? He probably got a good share or royalties when the California tour was going off.

  16. He’s still a member of Viking Wizard Eyes LLC, which has publishing for this song, so my guess is he sees something.

Thankfully Tom and Mark are on good terms again. Imagine paying your business partner, who also happens to be your ex best friend for something he had no involvement in. That shit would drive me nuts; it's like doing jack all during a group assignment and getting an A+ but the super real life version.

  18. I think Marks just happy to be able to finally make music consistently.

Honestly, the creative inconsistency about this band is what drove me nuts after the reunion more than anything else. One of the main, If not the main, reason why I love Skiba in the band is because he’s on the same page as the other guys.
