I'm confused by stories like this ^^. I thought marriage to a US citizen grants someone citizenship?

Listening to The Daily podcast last week, they interviewed two people directly hurt financially by the tariffs. Both voted for Trump and said they would do it again because they like a guy that's (paraphrasing) willing to stand up for America.

It just furthered the idea that these people are willing to put on the blinders, as long as their leader tells them they're winning when they're clearly not.

But Joe Biden is going to slap the kool aid out of their mouths with his aggressive hi partisanship. The other side will listen and work together and not call him a socialist pedophile trying to take their guns and kill them if they’re white.

Some people are too far gone, there’s a lot of other people out there to win over.

No, you still have to go through a lengthy application process just to get permanent resident status, then there are additional processes for citizenship after a wait period.

  5. Or they'll hurt black and brown people. I'm not convinced racism isn't a big part of this.

Ah, got it. I honestly should have known that since my grandmother was from Canada and married my grandfather in the US. She had a green card for decades but took a long time to finally establish citizenship. Wasn't thinking.

I am curious how she got her green card in the first place and how the process differs between the two. She's since passed away so I can't really ask her heh

There is still an official process and the government needs to sanction the marriage. It isn't a self-executing status.
