I caught that "life's work" part too and kinda rolled my eyes.

pretty much everyone who made fun of tom in that interview got abandoned by him not too long after.

Seriously though, seeing Mark and Tom there really bummed me out. These guys started a multi-million dollar business out of the back of a van, had their falling out's, and Mark was still willing to forgive and forget (as much as he could). It's a shame that it just wasnt what Tom wanted. I dont think it was about ego or fame, his heart just wasnt in it.

Toms entertaining to me. No hard feelings against him.

And in the process, he's getting under the skin of a lot of blink fans.

  5. (Oh, and no I don't think LA sounds like "Papercut Skin.")

what was the blink song that supposedly sounds just like goldfinger?

  9. Eh, I just don't see how attacking his personal character benefits anyone. The people you're referring to will never stop complaining about Tom being gone despite posts that constantly highlight his faults. The dude makes a big enough fool of himself on his own. It was funny for a little bit a while back to joke about the way he sang and stuff, but I just feel like in the past month or so the Tom hate in this thread has gone a little over the top. We all get it -- the guy is bonkers. He's not hurting anyone, as the release of this album shows.

Sorry for singling you out, this is sort of directed toward a lot of people in the thread.

  10. According to Reddit: All of them.

Do or do not, there is no try.

It's obviously all Goldfinger Featuring All Time Low and 5SOS..

I, along with a lot of other people in the thread, wish he would just shut up, mind his own business, and let Blink release their album without latching onto it parasitically to keep his name in the news.

Patrick Stump with cowriting credits on every song

I get that. And again, it wasn't me saying "these songs are insincere" it was more so me saying that that's the impression I get when I listen to it. Which I think makes it an opinion - you know what I mean? The songs might mean the world to these guys but until I hear them explain them individually i'm always going to hear them and interpret them the way that I currently am. Maybe it will all grow on me - it's still so early. These are all just my impressions after a couple days. I'm totally not in this thread to complain - just to voice my thoughts and create discussion from another perspective.

I think Los Angelos sounds like something off Goldfinger's final album "Hello Destiny" (which was awesome by the way.) But I don't see anything wrong with that. I hear influences from Matt, Travis, Mark, why not John?

I think they did a great job of making this sound like a Blink record while expanding their pop sensibilities.. we couldn't have asked for more than this record, first listen didn't like it second listen I like it third listen.. I like it a lot

people are going to be mad at me by saying this, but tom's guitar style at least chord wise is present on a few songs here and that is fine.

I brought this up in an earlier page of this thread somewhere, it's the 'DAY IN DAY OUT' lyric in Los Angeles that made me think of Papercut Skin. Interestingly enough, Papercut Skin was produced by John Feldmann too. !!

But, I don't think the whole song 'Los Angeles' sounds like Papercut Skin...just that opening line.

I don't think the two songs are actually that similar, BUT that opening 'day in day out' line in Los Angeles was what was intriguing to me, especially since Feldmann produced both songs. Cool coincidence though!

I love the reel big fish reference, one of my favorite bands

  21. Hahah. Here's the funny thing to me after reading back through all the old comments about the band's previous work when they were compared to Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and Backstreet Boys. In that era saying Blink sounded like Goldfinger would have been the biggest compliment ever and pissed off the "scene police" because of how much more GF was respected during that period of time. I do, however, like the symmetry of how anytime someone wants to shit on Blink, literally every single time throughout their career, they simply go find a pop-punk band that they don't think is "cool" or don't like or is poppy ... and say Blink sounds like them. It was Good Charlotte or Simple Plan in 2001. It's 5SOS or All Time Low today. I kinda wanna just whisper: yeah, poppy pop-punk bands kinda all do have a similar sound.

    Lol

  24. I'm gonna be doing a live listening party on Friday morning of California played on repeat for people to pop in and listen/discuss the album throughout the day. I'll post the link on Friday, but this is just to let you know in advance! I think it'll be fun to listen to the album all together. Woop woop!

Remember in 03/04 when New Found Glory got mad because they got compared to GC? That was the same thing because GC were deemed "uncool".
