It has been such a journey watching this show and I'm happy to say I enjoyed the finale and the last season. It could have been much better, we all agree on that but I'm not salty or disappointed with what we've got.

They should go back and insert present day things hidden in every episode.

  6. Yes I'm with you on this. He just killed a mass murderer and for his reward they sent him north to appease a group of people that left before he even leaves Kings Landing. Just felt very weird to me. If they would have made it that he chose to return to the north instead, it would have worked better for me.

I'm just glad this thing is over. The finale was...fine I guess but the entire last two seasons just seem super unsatisfying as whole.

Oh well, at least I'm binging Mad Men.

Where the story ended up was excellent. There were just some bumps along the road last season and in the middle of this season. Other than though on the whole I love this show and they tied it up really well. I’m fine with Dany and Jaimes arc. I’m even fine with Tyrion going dumb for a few seasons. A lot of these themes were present throughout. Power corrupts. Love corrupts. And all of these characters were effected by one or both numerous times and made irrational decisions because of it. I buy that. Tyrion and Jon scene was nice. And I thought Mallory Rubin made a great point about Tyrion’s dumb ideas, and him discovering Jaime/Cersei, and how that moment reframes all of his decisions. He was fighting a war against family, whether he “hated” Cersei or not....still family, subconsciously can cloud your judgement. And he “loved” her in a more complex untraditional way.

So much makes sense but not at the same time. He makes a perfect selection as king, but it is so out of character. He doesn't want to be king, doesn't believe in kings/queens, etc, etc, etc...it's just incredibly weird. The fact he even accepts his wack title without responding: "Bitch I told you, I am not Bran" is incredulous.

Also - this may be reaching but...GRRM - the man who would rather have the land ruled by imps and gimps than a strong woman...not in tune with the times eh?

Seriously felt like a farce at the time. The tonal shift was simply too much for me.

I just don't know why y'all love Sansa so much. So cold, so dull. Yeah - she's been through hell, but realistically, 98% of the women in that time suffered similar travesties. She has the personality of a cardboard box and is by far the least interesting Stark to me (this coming from someone who happy danced when Orlando Bloom died the first time). She got better with time, but meh.

I can’t believe that water bottle made it. Have to watch on the big screen before it’s taken from me like the coffee cup. There may even be a different cup in another shot behind Gendry, but the pic I saw of it was super blurry.

Also I have no idea how you could watch Dany burn an entire city to the ground, call it “liberation”, say with complete sincerity that she plans to do the same to every city in the entire world, and not see that as the show portraying her as a complete villain. Like regardless of whether or not you bought the descent, that is absolutely where she ended up.

I think part of what bothers me about the show now that it's complete is that, so much of it was about the ostracization and abuse of women and the inherent oppression of the systems the people live in, and they fumbled Dany so badly, a symbol of liberation from those systems and of women on the show, all for her death to go unacknowledged even in a tragic sense (in real tragedies, when Hamlet or Macbeth or Romeo/Juliet die, the whole rest of the story is ruminating on why it happened and what it means), all for a slight shift in government (kings are chosen now!) where things aren’t really much different but this time it’s a good thing because we like the people in power. Like, they don’t explore what any of all this really means at all

I just told you I happy danced when he died! lol

To say you stand completely by the evisceration of an entire population of people as a form of liberation is unreal.

Hence why they should have all been wiped out by TKK because none of it mean ANYTHING in the greater scheme of things. As someone said, in 50 or so years Bran will die and then the nations will be more than ready to fight and destroy each other again. The Game of Throne(s) will never end and thankfully for capitalism and (HBOs) sake, we will be fed many a story about the befores and afters of this one particular story.

    1. Seeing Jon turn himself in/get captured would've been a great scene, but of course showing it would've necessitated they give us a longer season, and heaven forbid that happen!

    2. Again, scenes they could've added to enhance the episode. They bring back Robin Arryn (!), but don't even give him any dialogue??!! Come on!!

    3. I thought the shots of the castle were inconsistent with what we saw last week as far as how bad the damage was, but then, that's very on-brand for them this season.

    4. It certainly looked like the entirety of the ceiling collapsed last week. There certainly wasn't enough space for anyone, even Tyrion, to squeeze through. Not to mention the pieces he had to move to see Jaime and Cersei's bodies seemed pretty conveniently small. And they didn't look like they'd just been crushed to death by thousands of pounds of castle once he dug them out, did they? They could've been sleeping.

Davos is the real winner here. Who honestly thought he would make it to the end?

Did not anticipate he would make it to the end, but he was a good dude so I'm all in for it. Wish Jorah had stuck it out even though his queen sucked ass.

I also wish that Bran’s personal thoughts on being king were established more in the end, because leaving it ambiguous opens the door for a much more horrific future than anything we’ve seen, and I doubt that was their specific intention with the ending. If he really did orchestrate everything to get to the future he saw for himself without any thought to what pieces had to move to make it happen, I don’t know if Dany staying and conquering the world would even be more bleak.

  23. This is obviously not a serious criticism but it is funny that Tyrion only had to move like 3 bricks to find his siblings' bodies meaning that if they had sidestepped a little bit they would've been fine and avoided the collapsing ceiling
