The more I think about this meeting the more upset I get!! I stayed 1.5 hours late tonight to work on things to present at the meeting that isn't even happening anymore and also NO BREAKFAST. At least not free breakfast and that's the best kind of breakfast. Like sry u other ppl finally decided to mosey on down to the meeting you were already supposed to be attending but why should I have to miss out on my free morning carbs??? Smh. I'm already not a morning person and then u take my breakfast......

People always say you get lonely and I say fuck that.

I mostly work in an office, but WFH on Fridays and any additional days when I get the chance. Would WFH more, but my boss gets lonely lol. It's really just us two in our dept, so it's understandable.

 

Can you just show up for the meeting anyway? Act like you're supposed to be there, get your FREE BREAKFAST, attend the meeting or whatever, and then slip away afterward.

 

Naw nobody will be there cause they rescheduled it at the last minute. Like literally it wast tomorrow morning and they sent the cancellation announcement after work hours tonight which I only saw cause I was working late for said meeting. But omg at least I can emotionally prepare myself for not getting breakfast. Can u imagine if I hadn't stayed late and hadnt seen the email and thought tomorrow would be a wonderful breakfast-filled day??

 

Yeah before I got laid (layed?) off I was on a team of developers but rarely really talked to anybody except for small talk and not really a fan of that. Plus the amount of time I spent commuting to/from work to/from lunch was annoying.

Also once my wife finishes school I want to have flexibility where we want to live. We'll probably move back to El paso at some point, but there's no developer jobs there and El paso sends out press releases when they open a new call center for debt collection which is probably in the top 3 or 4 jobs there after military and teachers/government.

 

Reword this to breakfast and I have never related more to Ross in my life

Oh my bad. I keep thinking you got scheduled off or something instead of the meeting time being changed. Breakfast is my fav meal of the day, so I join you in mourning the lack of a free breakfast tomorrow.

Yeah, I hate small talk, so I just go into the office and put on my headphones and do work/post on Chorus--not sure it's much different for my boss if I was home, lol. We mostly talk through Slack anyway. Yeah, I have a longish commute, so I love the days where I'm home. Get a decent amount of extra sleep, plus like I don't technically have to leave my bed.

Well, I wish you luck. I don't envy you living in El Paso, unless you're cool with it. But remote positions are pretty common these days, especially in tech, so I bet you'll be able to find something.

 

When I was a teen I thought adulthood would be so cool. I thought I'd have a cool job and live in a cool apartment in the cool city and have a close group of cool friends and travel to cool places and wear cool clothes.

But adulthood is me whining that my phone won't connect to Tetris and throwing a tantrum over a sad breakfast. Life is cruel and has reduced me to this!! Is this what u wanted, life?? R u happy??? R u satisfied????

 

Lol naw they just rescheduled it for a day and time I can't go. I feel like I was a regular at my favorite dive burger joint but then it popped up on Guy Fieri's show and now it's overrun with tourists and white men with moustaches writing listicles as I am pushed out!! I wonder who is going to play me in the Oscar bait movie about this tragedy???

 

I've long since accepted that I'll never be interesting or have an interesting life, but rather hide out in my apartment my sad boy brain doesn't like going out and I'll just waste my life never doing anything.

Yeah, I don't really socialize much at the office either. My one friend who did work at the same company as me moved to DC so I'm back to eating lunch at my desk. I wish I could eat with headphones in though... I can't stand the sound of chewing. I mean, the folks on my team are cool, but I'd rather just eat lunch at my desk to myself. But that 1-2 days/wk remote is sweeeet.

 

Yeah I feel a type of way when celebs are congratulated for being good business people. Like congrats the rich are good at getting richer what else is new lol
