I believe Watchmen will be a better show than GoT ever was but it won't be anywhere near as big as GoT. So there won't be nearly as much vitriol and anger because the fanbase won't be as huge. But I promise you there will still be people that hate-watch/nitpick it to hell by the end of its run. That's just how TV shows get treated in general in 2019.

What are some possible reasons they decided to shorten the length of the seasons? Doesn’t seem like it could be budgetary... but it seems like it really hurt them

“Cersei walking past The Hound gif” is already on google autocomplete but doesn’t seem to actually exist yet. We just need one person to stop being mad at the episode for a second and make it happen.

Exactly. Due to her stubbornness and arrogance she died in the basement of the place she spent eight seasons climbing to the top of. By rocks. She could have been killed by being stabbed, beheaded, neck slit, burned alive, any of those could have been a nice result due to her stubbornness, arrogance and still be in the basement, but nope. All of that led to her being crushed by rocks. Rocks. Death by rocks.

Usually I like to see the same creative team retain control of a property all the way through a run, but it's a shame that they didn't hand it off to someone who still had the passion when it really does seem like more time / episodes would have served the story better. It seems like HBO was all for keeping it going.

I don't really buy that this was ballpark the total number of episodes they were shooting for all along either. If that is true then they fucked up big time with the structure and pacing of the overall series.

This has been basically confirmed by a few different interviews and comments. HBO was willing to throw money at them to keep going but they put their foot down. I think some of the articles are in this thread but given how much it’s grown that’s no help now, lol.

Oakhurst is going to die in a rock climbing accident and I'm going to pay off the cemetery to make his epitaph "He died how he lived, with total disrespect for rocks."

I thought Jamie and Cersei were going to make it out alive (which would have been such a random ending for her) so when at the last second they are trapped and die, it brought back the feeling I used to get in the show when the unexpected happened. That made me like it, even though I get the complaints.

Shoutout to the one guy whose "leaks" said Jaime and Euron just fucking sail off and aren't heard from again.

I suspect they only started planning to make the end a little more brisk after they ran out of book to adapt and realized how much more work it was going to be.

I wish they had given her more to do this season. She always always killed her scenes but she just looked out of a window for most of this one. I really thought she would get another story or role to play after being sidelined for the war against the NK. Especially since she was completely proven correct in her judgment on that one.

Is it not elegant that she was crushed by the entire weight of her castle? The symbol of her power and the primary object of her affections?

I get that there was a huge amount of stress involved with living up to the insane expectations of all the viewers - BUT the flip side is how many people would absolutely KILL to be in that position where you have HBO willing to give you all of that money and you have those actors and crew at your disposal and complete and utter free creative reign as to where to take the story??? I know I would. That is such a tremendous opportunity.

Aaaaaaand to the person who said Dany was going to get a sword and the episode would end with her tearfully hugging Jon and them proclaiming their undying love for each other. The way people latched onto that clear fan fic just because THE BEEELLLLLLS enraged them so much is almost poetic.

i didn't hate or love how Cersei died. it didn't have an immediate satisfying death of a "fuck yeah!" like Arya taking out the Night King, but in the bigger context and symbolism of her being crushed under the weight of her entire empire that she's worked to maintain for years, was fitting. kind of feel like she didn't deserve to die with Jamie though? but i'm not pissed about it.

seeing Drogon fucking obliterate everything was amazing. this is what the dragons always should have been doing! really showed how amazing and dangerous they can be. would have been cool to see a scene with all three of them tearing shit up.

also, does Jon have absolutely none of his father's traits or was his father not mad and that's part of the whole "a coin is flipped when a Targaryen is born" thing? he has never ever displayed anything close to losing it or wild anger like almost all of his family members.

which leads to me, what would be a hysterical and awful final shot of the finale:

Jon turning away from a group of people and slowly beginning to smirk or "smile wolfishly" as fantasy writers like to say, and we see either the reflection of flames in his eyes or on his face or some shit and then the scene goes to black, role credits.

could you imagine the outrage?!?!? :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:

Probably something about the distance between Rhaegar's and Lyanna's bloodlines or something.
