I don't think we know that Jaime knows this. The only way he would have is if her overheard Varys telling Aerys not to trust Tywin, and of course that would mean believing Varys at the time.

I took Sansa's comments last week about regretting not being there when they kill Cersei as the catalyst.

He is Martins least favorite character too.

She was killed by her own stubbornness and arrogance in the basement of the place she spent eight seasons climbing to the top of.

I'm just speculating of course, I just assume Tywin would have wanted to loop Jaime in. Plus the reason why Aerys asked for Tywin's head was because he knew Tywin had joined Robert, and Tywin was his hand, wasn't it? Idk, like I said it's just me speculating at the end of the day.

From what I remember, Aerys pretty much kept Jaime at his side at all times, so I don't think there was a way for Tywin to get word to Jaime himself. I gotta go back and read the part about bringing him Tywin's head. He either said that as a "if your father betrays me, bring me his head", or it was right as Aerys was going full Mad King and giving the order to burn them all. I think it was the latter.

Plus the only accounts we have of that moment are biased anyway, so it's hard to know what really happened.

    and a millions screams...

Also there is the whole "We will die together as we were born together". Clutched in a confined spaced (a la the womb).

But you know... we can definitely just minimize it to "killed by some rocks".

I'm not sure why the show even bothered with the Golden Company bit. When they first mentioned Cersei hiring them last season, it was to make it seem like the odds weren't so dramatically against her. 20,000 sellswords at her beck and call! But then this season they hardly mentioned them at all when strategizing, despite the fact that they would've outnumbered Dany's army before the Battle of Winterfell. Then when we finally see them, there's definitely not nearly as many as they promised. I'm sure part of that is due to budgetary constraints, but why even bother with them at all? The narrative this season has been about Cersei being outnumbered (even though it definitely looked like most of Dany's army got killed at Winterfell...), so couldn't they just have stuck a few of the Lannister men outside instead?

I’d have to rewatch that scene to talk about the specifics more accurately. It certainly triggered the decision, but we’ll have to disagree on that being enough to make him run as fast as he can away from EVERYTHING in the space of one episode. But then of course that’s just getting back to talking in circles about the rushed execution being acceptable or not.

I thought the Tyrion/Jaime moment this episode was much more powerful than the Cersei/Jaime moment.

I'm not saying it wasn't rushed, it definitely was, I'm just saying that it didn't come out of nowhere. I think he was able to put everything about King's Landing out of his mind in the aftermath of surviving the battle, but hearing what Cersei did and knowing what that will make Daenerys do snapped him back to reality and made up his mind.

Dive-bombing completely changed the tide of WWII at Midway, so it is actually an effective strategy.

What do you take from Jon ignoring Tyrion when after telling him to stop the attack once the bells were rung? Did he have other orders direct from Daenerys? Was he originally okay with her sacking the city? I wouldn’t think so, just thinking back to the episode and remember that gave me pause.

Yeah, it’s just definitely rough for me to see them presenting that as his “reality” with a totally straight face after all of his great work for humanity in general and in his personal life. He also just doesn’t seem that conflicted about his decision throughout the entire episode, which isn’t an entirely an issue of the pacing but also the presentation. I really would love to see that fall back to his past fleshed out in a proper way.

What are you referencing exactly? I was under the impression that when they rang the bells and Grey Worm said fuck it and speared that guy Jon only continued fighting because he had to defend himself.

Jon tried to prevent that from happening but once the fighting started he had to defend himself. He even killed one of his own men who was about to rape that one girl. Nobody was listening to him at that point so all he could do was try to survive.

So I know Dany started killing innocent civilians to make a point, but why did her army start killing them too? That was the most shocking thing to me. I get the solders, even though they were unarmed, but to keep going on civilians was kind of over the top. A lot of those solders were from the North right? I guess they are just straight monsters as well minus Jon and Davos?

Jon wandering around a battle completely by himself and hopeless was the most in character thing that happened in the whole episode.

I’d like to also acknowledge how civil everyone is being in here when disagreeing. Reddit is a disaster (no surprise). They had to sticky a comment to the top of the thread to warn people not to tell others to kill themselves haha

I will be okay. everything Supporter

Jaime actually did it to save the city, but everyone thinks he did it because Tywin turned sides, which Jaime didn’t know about. That’s why Ned, for example, doesn’t trust him and that’s in turn why Jaime leans into being a scumbag early in the show - if people are going to give him shit for the best thing he ever did, why even bother?

Didn’t Tyrion tell him before the battle even started that once the bells started ringing that he needed to stop the attack? And then Jon just kind of looks at him with this face
