okay, um. Three lessons:

1. Finding a non-shitty recipe is essential. There's a plethora of garbage out there and sometimes I'll look at 10-15 recipes before settling on one. It's always good to look at the comments to see what insight people who have made the dish can offer. Sometimes you'll change a recipe based on that information or combine multiple recipes.
2. Season (salt) generously and throughout the cooking process. Taste everything as often as you can. Remember that you can always add more salt, but taking it out will be impossible.
3. Work on your technique (i'm always improving this). If you don't know how to do something properly, google/youtube/nyt cooking/food wishes/food & wine/bon appetit are all your friend.

I know a lot, but I also know enough to know that I basically know nothing. The only way I can really teach you is for you to cook often and ask lots of questions. Which I will always be happy to answer, feel free to slide into my DMs like @oldjersey does.
