Saw the Struts last night. They are without doubt one of the best live acts currently out there in rock n roll. Everyone should see them.......the singer just oozes charisma - total ROCK STAR

I’m excited about this combination. Butch is the man.

Not sure what about his work I'm supposed to be excited for

  4. The part where he’s one of the best songwriters and producers alive and has been for almost twenty years.

Yeah well I'm looking at the albums hes produced and I gotta say I'm not a fan of any of them. So I guess I don't feel your excitement

Like, this can't be true... at all. If you don't like anything he has produced in his career then you must just hate music? He's extremely versatile and spans multiple genres. Did you only look at full album credits or did you look at songs also?

Even just based on what Butch has done in the past year with Andrew McMahon, Matt Nathanson, and Rob Thomas, I feel super good about him producing a Green Day album.

  9. Wait don't you like Avril Lavigne?

Much better than his last solo album, but not as much of a home run as I hoped. I've always been big on M20 and Rob though so my bar is higher than others. Lots of cool stuff on the album though, I'm surprised the lead single didn't BLOW UP honestly, it's a big catchy song that I thought would be perfect for adult alt radio. Guess not!

I saw pink, Katy Perry, avril lavigne, fall out boy, some weaker weezer albums

Hah I mean I guess sr 71 is cool?

and these are just off the top of my head

  13. Also Brian Fallon, The Academy Is, Sevendust, Gob, Default, Bowling for Soup, Midtown, The Donnas, Tommy Lee, The Bronx, Hot Hot Heat, Anberlin, Saosin, Dashboard, The Maine, The Wombats, Panic!, Gavin DeGraw, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Christina Perri, Andrew McMahon ... the list is giant and incredibly diverse with what he's worked on, before even getting into the diversity of his own music over the years.

Admittedly, he didn't do the whole Matt album, but he's all over "Different Beds" which is probably my favorite song from it.

I like the Rob album. Didn't hit me too hard at first, but it's growing on me. Butch plays guitar all over a few of the songs, which is always fun.

  15. He's somehow at this point a super underrated guitar player too.

One of the things I loved about Stay Gold was how much he shredded on it, after not playing much electric guitar at all on Afraid of Ghosts.

What weak-ass Wiki link is this guy looking at? Butch is, was, and always will be the fucking man. He is a legend. Zero doubt about it. Don’t @ me.

I thought Butch Walker/Frank Turner and Butch Walker/Brian Fallon was peak excitement.

Now this??? Yes. Give me this all day long.

im not that familiar with these i admit. Frank Turner, sure.

I don't know. When I see this guy's line of work, as a green day, I'm not really that excited. Like as a 'punk' guy, it's not the type of discography that really peeks my interest. The album can still be good, and im sure this butch guy is good at what he does, but like i said... i'm not really that inspired by his line of work.

I mean, I get that to an extent, but Green Day are at their best when they push away from "punk" anyway. American Idiot, Warning, etc... Getting them to experiment in other ways is what excites me about Butch. Sure, another straight up punk album would be fine, but I want more

I'll tell you what, if it isn't true and all the Butch connections were just coincidences, I'm going to be real upset now lol.

Butch, help them make a proper sequel to Warning goddammit

we'll see. I might be bias but i've literally liked every album green day put out (other than uno, dos tres). Revolution Radio was fantastic and it seems like they self-produced it? That's awesome. With that kind of success, I wish they'd give that another try. It's not like they're not putting out 'pop punk' bangers. Butch Vid (a guy with rock roots) did 21st century breakdown, and that was a great album with variety.

And i like warning, it was a nice change of pace, but it's 2nd to last on my GD album list. And American idiot isn't fair because of the insane amount of radio play the entire album got for lik 4 years, so now i cant really enjoy that album anymore.

I'm cautiously optimistic, i'll leave it at that.

I would actually love if they went in an entirely new direction with this album, at this point they're never gonna stop selling out arenas so why not get weird with it

Huge M20 fan, their debut album may be my all time favorite, but at least top 3. I just never paid a lot of attention to Rob's solo career for whatever reason. I like that song though, the video is cool too.
