Missed this yesterday, but Columbia confirmed they signed there for this album.

 

Oooooh yes! My band's old drummer was a huge DGD fan and would often recite some of their lyrics to us, and I was always very confused and intrigued. I woud always think "Huh, maybe I CANNNN write lyrics too!?"

 

the Jon Mess alternate universe where Bored to Death dropped and the second verse kicks off with "GET THAT, GO GO CLAWS, HAVE A BABY, ADOPT A DOG"

 

Interesting. Does that mean it was only a one record deal with BMG? Are they maybe going the Jimmy Eat world route and recording on their own and shopping the record around per record? Interested in kinda how that works or what that means for a band in 2019

 

No idea at the moment, haven't found much more information and all the Columbia/Sony stuff makes no sense to me even on a good day.
