Speaking of the Na Na Nas, I think they're used quite poorly on No Future, but they rule everywhere else they appear on the album. I've had the ones from Sober stuck in my head all damn day.

  3. I can't even tell you what songs are on it, haha. NFG have always been great live though.

I enjoyed all three of the last NFG albums very briefly. Had zero lasting value for me though. On Not Without A Fight, that "Listen to your Friends" song is literally the only melody I can recall enough to sing in my head. And that's from one of the few people on here that hated Coming Home and should've been glad they went back to their old sound.

I think I liked what I heard of Coming Home, but I've never enjoyed anything else they've done

My favorite band to see live for sure. My buddy (big yellowcard fan) went to the show in chicago both bands played last year. I told him he was in for a treat. He understood what i meant after the show was done lol. yellowcard was great too of course.

as far as songs off resurrection, i really enjoyed selfless, ready and willing, vicious love, angel, and stubborn.

Online songs is my favorite blink na-na moment that I can think of

No worries. Again, i know it wasn't the greatest album, but i got some enjoyment out of it at least.

Matt has made plenty of songs with Alkaline Trio without whoaing while being the only guitar player. It was obviously a stylistic choice for blink but that doesn't mean everyone will like it. Do you not think four songs on the same album ALL ending with Whoas is a little bit of overkill? Added to the mid song whoas in other tracks as well. I don't hate them all either. I think the ones on Bored to Death sound great.

I mean it's not 100% the same sound of course, but the last three haven't shown enough progression for me to remain interested in them

It was pretty cool listening to this album earlier today while walking around Reykjavik and passing by wall art done by the artist who did the cover to this album. (Posted a pic of it a few days ago.)

Definitely! That'll still be cool to have and look back on years from now.

I love the guitar part after Mark sings "We are the kings of the weekend"

That's what I liked about it too. My faves on neighbourhoods are the songs with even contribution too. So I'm glad I have an album with every song having two vocals

in their defense, they tried progressing with coming home, but people didn't respond to it (at the time). Nowadays, i think people view it a bit more favorably. Personally, i love that album and hope they explore it more on their next record (which they will be starting after warped tour apparently).

Finally listening to this. "Cynical" is a solid opener, really like Matt's background vocals during Mark's parts. "Bored to Death" is still really good.

Ha, I'm not very invested in "vintage blink" either, so I'm totally fine with this not being that. I don't even know what my favorite blink album would be.

Yeah, like, I can't imagine ever like TSSF or Real Friends, even if I were a teenager when those were coming out. So it's not just not being that age anymore so you don't enjoy it/relate to it anymore. And my tastes have changed a ton too, even in the past year. I kind of felt like I was outgrowing stuff in the scene last year, because none of the albums that were coming out were resonating with me, but now I'm right back to loving this site's "consensus favorites." I just think it's silly to put an absolute cap on your enjoyment of something and say "I can't see myself liking an album from this band in 2016." Like, there's always a chance, right? There have been a few artists this year who have dropped albums that I've loved, after I haven't cared for anything from them in like 10+ years. Why not just say "I'm not into this album," instead of saying "I will never like anything by this band again, boo hoo"?

Yeah, I thought it was super lame of them to revert after they got criticism for Coming Home.

I know this forum, and specially Tate is one-sided against Tom, but I kinda think Neighborhoods while being such a letdown, had one or two great songs that are better than anything on California, which is the much better album.

  24. crackedthesky

blessed be the lost at sea

I think Neighborhoods had a little more depth, but I'm not making any statements on whether it was better or worse just yet. Just that California is a little more flat, less varied in different tones and pacing.

Out of boredom i made a "full version" of Cynical. i'm ok with the song being short but since so many people were complaining i took a shot at it. It doesn't sound good lol. It's basically copy/paste. I won't post any links here of course but i posted it on reddit (i don't care if i'm banned there). ;-p
