Also, to add even more support to your point, the second song Bad Religion released, Profane Rights Of Man, was also a b-side. It was like a thanks for your patience, reintroduction for those who needed it. The songs were essentially released before the album title, etc.

Honestly, it just reminds me of alt-right and alt-left reactions in politics today haha.

Blink 2.0 would be better than Blink 1.0 if Jerry was still around.

  4. Right?? Like I get it if you aren’t a fan or whatever but jfc why be such an obnoxious jerk about it? If it’s really such a bad idea then let the turnouts/sales speak for themselves

They're trying to will it into being a bad idea with their negativity cause they are fully aware it's not a bad idea haha

The last few days might be the most I've ever hated the internet tbh

So, I'm finally home and winding down, and gave the song a listen. While it feels flat and uninspired to me, I did find it replaying in my head after the first listen. Not sure how much I'll come back to it, but "Bored to Death" hit me the same, and I enjoyed other Cali songs, so I'm sure I will have something on the album that is able to grab my attention.

Star Trek fans are pretty bad too. "Discovery is the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to Star Trek..." And all I say to that is Space Hippies.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

finally woke up to hear this song and I absolutely love it. the mix is so open and fresh-sounding and Skiba sounds absolutely fantastic. the "endless summer" backing vocal that comes in is absolutely killer

  11. And Discovery is awesome. So all these people are just wrong all the time. :crylaugh:

Every song is inspired; even the ones you don't like. Bringing a song into the world wouldn't be possible without inspiration. Remove "uninspired" from all criticism. Even when something doesn't reinvent the wheel, it's still inspired.

Yoooo so I know I’m way late on this but I just saw Tom’s IG video and can’t stop smiling.

This is all I ever wanted since 2014, Mark & Tom acknowledging each other exist and at least acting like there is no bad blood.

Anybody remember that MTV special where they had blink help three random dudes dress up as them and like drew lazy tattoos on them and had them act out a blink song?

I would watch the Wayne/blink mash up twenty times before I sat through that show again

Haha that's funny. I ate all that stuff up and couldn't wait for every time blink was on MTV, but god so many corny things looking back (all of MTV in general)

Every time the first verse winds up for the first chorus, I expect the guitar to explode, especially since they tease you with a little chug/scratch. It's such a letdown for a band that purposefully included a heavy chorus guitar in each of their comeback singles, "Up All Night" and "Bored to Death."

California came out at the perfect time for me and was the perfect soundtrack for everything that was happening in my life at the time. I really do love that album and and era of the band

I went on a first date the weekend that album came out (4th of July weekend I think it was) and while it only ended up being a summer romance / summer fling type of deal I still think of that time fondly. So all of those feelings of being on top of the world and feeling like a million bucks cause of a fun summer date with a cute girl that is new in your life, California was playing in the "background" for me.

Also that same week was when Pokemon Go came out. That first month of the game's existence my friends and I would ride our bikes at night around our neighborhood until midnight sometimes playing the game and catching Pokemon. What was I listening to while riding my bike and playing and hanging out with my friends? California of course.

It was the perfect album for the perfect summer. I was 27 when it came out and because I went to college much later after I graduated high school, it was basically the last summer before I was in full fledged adult mode. It felt very fitting and full-circle-like that one of the prominent bands I grew up with in middle school and high school (and beyond) put out one last perfect summer album as I was on the brink of total adulthood. One last summer to be a king of the weekend I guess.

This new song is............ okay I guess. It's not what I was hoping for or expecting. I think Matt sounds great on it and as corny as the "blame it, blame it on my youth" part sounds to me, it's been stuck in my head most of the day. I'm happy everyone else is digging it and excited about it, but I wish it did more for me personally. Everything always seems right with the world when Blink is active and releasing new music.

For me, this song just makes me reflect on the Bored to Death release and California in general and how appreciative I am of that album and era of the band.

    Things have changed.

Sounds like you want them to be formulaic then? I love that they subverted the expectation of a big chorus. Almost like the anti-chorus after the first verse of "Feeling This."

    not a doctor

I watched some of those clips the other day. What a world it was in the early 2000's for music television.

Someone in a board room ACTUALLY pitched that idea for a show.
