Hey Jason! I miss our lengthy back and forths. By the way, I really enjoy your terse movie reviews.

For example, "How the f*ck did Green Book win best picture?"

100% certain that I first heard Blink on TRL with "What's My Age Again"

I first heard Blink at SOMA in San Diego, post-Buddah and pre-Cheshire. The audience threw stuff at them (in a bad way). The tide quickly turned.

1998. Last day of 5th grade. Going to the movies with my older sister and her friends to see “Can’t Hardly Wait” and hearing “Dammit” play in the house party bust scene. My mom then bought me Dude Ranch bc she also thought that song was “cute” and liked it way more than the music I was into at such a young age lol.

Was super into Green Day and spooky things from third grade on, and in fifth grade, my older sister played Aliens Exist for me because she thought I’d like a song about aliens....and boy, did I.

My friend brought Dude Ranch to a Cub Scout camping trip. We listened to it all night in our tent. I was 8.

I’m surprised Feldy hasn’t posted anything about this new song.

Okay it’s driving me nuts - there is another Feldman produced song that sounds similar to the chorus. Just can’t remember if it’s All Time Low, State Champs, Good Charlotte or one of the others.

Edit: It’s Makeshift Love - Good Charlotte

    “Turn off the goddamn lights...”

Wasn’t blown away on the first listen. But it’ll grow.

I don’t know how I feel about that Ritalin Line, other than that, the song is a certified banger.

  14. Did Tom always look like he was squinting. Every time I see him he's squinting.

I don't understand why people are saying "needs more guitar". The guitar here works fine as it compliments the song, if it were anymore present in the mix it'd sound silly.

I don’t think people necessarily want this song with more guitar, they’d just like a song with more guitars.

I'm sure there will be plenty of guitars on the album :)

If anything, my ability to guess whether something is/will be popular is always in complete opposite land, so I guess my pessimism on this track is a good thing

The guitar is buried in the bottom frequency of the chorus. Not sure how it'd sound "silly" if it's slightly more audible, especially for a guitar-driven band.

I've seen a lot of comments about "theres no blink-182 riffs". Technically, there is a riff....a synth riff in the verses that is stuck in my head and probably my favorite part of the music aside from Travis drum intro/chorus (Which is very reminiscent to Kings of the Weekend intro).

Even Travis' verses are that classic upbeat pop punk beat he's used a lot in the past. Specifically in Mutt and Wishing Well.

Dissecting the song that way really makes me appreciate it more.

Also, the WMAA/Milli mashup is great, just in case I wasn't clear enough when it was released.

This is not a guitar driven song though. This song is very much all about the rhythm section.

Can you imagine if My Chemical Romance was still around and they kept developing their sound from Danger Days? It probably would've lead to something like this new Blink song. I'd be all about it since DD is my favorite, but I'd love to see the fan reactions to that in 2019.

Dammit, I really want another MCR record.
