I’m getting strong WILSON vibes from this, too and that’s a top 10 FOB song for me.

 

The worst complaint I see from Tom fans is: "Mark continuing blink is just a cash grab and he's doing it for money. This is why he didn't change the name."

It is like .... have you met anything Tom has ever done? He is only about money. He is literally asking fans to give him money to build a spaceship. He literally shits out EP's for you to pay attention and buy his books. I'm convinced he stole my money for convincing 15 year old me to pay for Modlife to see him say hi on a camera once every 2 months.

 

As if Tom didn't reunite with blink mostly for money and exposure for AVA, the project he actually cared more about.

Like I said, there's almost nothing somebody can bitch about with current blink that doesn't apply to old blink or Tom in general.

 

I’d recommend just not reading any social media or reddit comments at all

 

First and second listens definitely reminded me of when FOB started dropping Save Rock N Roll songs. That and the first time i heard Feeling This and Violence.

Save Rock N Roll is my 2nd favorite FOB album btw.

Like he wore an AVA shirt during blink shows. Like ... I don't even like to wear the same t-shirt of the band if I'm AT that band's show. Nevermind my own band ... at my other band's show.

 

What these people need to realize is that Tom quit. He left. Mark and Travis have always wanted to keep going and they found the best way for them to do that.

 

Right, because Tom walking away from super-stardom and the most successful thing he has ever been a part of proves he is all about the money? I really don't want to get into this again but c'mon. I don't think Mark & Travis only care about money but I do think they enjoy being famous way more than Tom.

I don't want to be associated with any redditors or FB/IG commenters, but I wish I heard what y'all in this thread hear. It just doesn't click at all with me and I have my reasons for disliking it, which I won't list because everyone will tell me my opinion is wrong. So I will stop commenting in this thread and go back to lurking it. I am truly glad y'all are enjoying the song and I am very happy for the new chapter in Blinks history. Cheers everyone!

 

Do people realize how moronic and selfish they sound when they say "Mark and Travis just care about being successful and making money"? Like, duh, they wanna make a living and have a career like literally anyone else in life.

 

That wasn't the example I provided. The other examples are why he cares a lot about money. Literally all of them do. They are human. There is literally nothing wrong with caring about money. But do NOT give me "Mark and Travis are using the blink name as a cash grab" as a negative.

 

That's what I want people to understand too. It's not like Mark and Travis were ever forcing him to quit. He's quit (multiple times) all on his own. And if Tom hadn't have quit the last time, there's no way we'd have all these shows and over 30 new Blink-182 songs in the last couple years. I'd rather have over 30 Blink songs with varying quality than 10-15 Blink songs that sound like AVA's spacey soundscapes.

 

It sounds like everyone in this thread have got their reddit comments sorted by ”controversial” instead of ”best” or ”hot”. Sure, some comments irks me but the most upvoted ones are mostly fine. It’s not as bad as you’re making it out to be. It just takes a while for the shitty comments to get filtered out.

The posts/comments i remember from my last visit there about an hour ago are a mix of ”I like it”, ”the video is cool”, a meme taking the piss out of people saying it’s to poppy, ”it’s the most blink song ever”, ”it grew on me and i really like it now” and ”it’s a good song but I would have liked it if the guitars were more prominent” (which is a take I don’t have problem with as long as the user isn’t shitting on other people for liking it).

It just depends on what you are looking for. The anti-reddit circlejerk on this forum is far more annoying in my mind.

Yeah, I have no problem with the song or the style, just sometimes melodies click and sometimes they don't, and for me this falls into the first category.

 

I like how usually most of the negative comments are saved for the front page articles lol

Got my "needs more real instruments" (you can hear all three instruments in the whole song after the intro), "tainting their legacy", "cash grab" and "they need to hang it up" spots for the Bingo card now lol

 

I’m more referring to the people who want them to sound like TOYPAJ or Untitled again, expected that, and were mad when it wasn’t.

Simply not liking the style is fine.

 

Sure, but it's a major example of how Tom isn't fueled by greed or just money which some people like to claim he is. Even Travis said it when he went on Joe Rogan - that he respects the hell out of Tom for walking away from something this big, to do what he is more passionate about.

 

I'm really bummed we didn't get an album announcement/pre-order today. That would have made this day even better.
