Love people being vague as hell on purpose to get attention. If you're gonna post a severe critique of something, come out and say it. This isn't facebook where people post how awful their day is and then tell people not to ask.

Edit: This came off much more mean than I intended, that kind of vague-posting just irks me.

I enjoyed the episode a lot but if the writers are doing what I am afraid they are doing with Jaime it is very dumb and they definitely ruined his character quickly. Still hoping I am wrong about that.

It did feel like very jarring jumps around Euron's ambush & them washing up on shore / back at Kings landing with the prisoner / ervryone at Kings landing but I understand how and why.

  4. ppl are so sensitive abt this show lol

  5. I was expecting them to kick her off the wall and I was afraid we'd see her fall to her death. I don't know if what we got was any easier to watch.

Narratively that death felt entirely unearned to me. She should've gotten to do so much more before going out like that. Feels like all she's done the past two seasons is longingly stare at Greyworm.

i figured it was obvious i was talking about jaime, but okay, sure. the short little fling with brienne came off as lazy and cruel. what purpose did that serve besides to hurt brienne? jaime could have bounced back to KL without doing all of that.

Agreed that i expected mountain to like pick her up and throw her off the wall. I dont know of i necessarily agree with all the talk of certain things being “earned” or “unearned”, but she has been such a great character and a necessity to dany for so long that, it’s almost fitting that this of all things is what drives dany over the edge. Like you could see in tyrions face he knows theres no going back now.

Missandei single-handedly helped turn Greyworm from a robotic killing machine to a human being capable of love

  9. Yeah, early on she'd done a lot, but aside from her fling with an unsullied, it's like recently they had no idea what to do with her so they just kept her around to kill her as a plot device to motivate Dany.

I thought that whole sequence was amazing watching Tyrion try his hardest and play the last and only cards he had left while it all went to shit.

I was much more emotionally affavted by her death than I thought I was going to be, especially since I knew as well as she did there was no way she was getting out of there alive .

  11. Yeah, and that's great, but how many words has she spoken in the last two seasons? Nathalie was underutilized imo.

I agree, them hooking up felt very lazy to me. Surely they'll have more time together, but I never looked at them in any kind of romantic way.

There are quite a few characters that this applies to. Bronn especially is a super confusing presence outside of being enjoyed by fans. It hurts more to see it happen to Missandei because so much of her story has always been about Dany instead of her own motivations/hopes, and she didn’t get time to explore what she really wanted outside of a scene or two. The fact that her death was in this specific context where it’s almost a fridging doesn’t help that incomplete feeling either.

You really really need to go back and watch their time together again, lol.

I mean, once they got to Westeros, it was kind of a given that she'd be pushed to the side a bit as Dany gained more "noble" advisers who knew the country better than Missandei did. She wasn't going to be as valuable an adviser considering she kne less of Westeros than anyone else in Dany's orbit save Grey Worm.
That being said, she still had a few big scenes in Season 7 when it came to bridging the gap between Jon and Dany and such. And of course her cute love affair with Grey Worm.

Me personally, I wasn't referring to Jaime and Brienne hooking up but what happened after with him taking off .

I thought the romance happened pretty organically TBH, starting with her teaching Grey Worm how to read/speak the common tongue.

I watched the whole series a few months ago and maybe using 'never' in my post was too hyperbolic but anything romantic between them did not feel like it was teetering on the edge of them hooking up while drunk like this.

I don't think it came out of nowhere but I definitely enjoyed the 'warriors who respect each other' dynamic much more.

Well I mean we all know the show is the absolute worst at writing sex scenes well or organically, but their relationship taking this turn is up there with the most foreshadowed and earned plots this season. His love for Brienne and confusion about how to navigate that and her issues with feeling something personal instead of professional is most of their story at this point.

Are there specific quotes that people are pointing to that illustrated that? Because it (being hyperbolic) always felt like mutual honor/respect/friendship and not something romantic to me. I know they love each other, that is clear, but I felt their love was platonic.

yeah that's the part that really did it for me. I'm also surprised to see that other people got a completely different take away from that convo than I did. I read the scene as Jaimie finding out about Cersei killing the dragon, destroying the fleet, and basically getting the upper hand right now and abandoning dany (and brienne) to be by her side for the battle and the aftermath and that's why she was crying so much and he said he was a shitty person
