Can someone listen to Sober and tell me if they hear a DJ scratches at :17-:18 seconds haha. Am I crazy? I'm listening on laptop speakers right now and the frequency comes in really clear. Pretty sure it happens in the choruses too.

San Diego. Can anyone else hear Mark smirking as he sings "Can't go back to San Diego" in the chorus?

Probably my favorite chorus on the record actually.

There's also a drum machine in it in parts. Perhaps this song is the crossover single @Jason Tate mentioned?

Yes. That's real. Whoa. Could have lived the rest of my life not hearing that and been fine.

Do they ever actually name drop Bad Religion and Rancid?

I think this is pretty great btw

What's the band name they reference in the chorus of "She's Out of Her Mind"? I can't make it out...

Ah, there it is. Bauhaus. Thanks.

Can safely say that I've never heard of them before.

Maybe not scratches. But they do a in purposes skippy thing with his voice. It works for me

I'm certain that they are record scratches. It doesn't bother me because it's a subtle cheesy effect for a cheesy pop song.

After 5 or so listens, I think San Diego is the only track I don't enjoy a lot (besides the joke songs obviously). The album starts to feel long to me every time I get to SD. But honestly, I am quite pleased with the entire thing!

    Viva Skiba!

I like it :Z a little sour to add to the sweetness imo

Yeah, I don't get it. They said multiple times those two were name dropped. If it's there I haven't caught it yet.

They do reference two better bands, though: Bauhaus and The Cure. And those references worked really well, imo.

I don't mind all the Na Na Nas and Oh Oh Ohs since they function as this record's lead guitar.

    Sorry about co-writes again.
But... According to wiki (take what you will, also has a reference though)
Stumpy got a co-write just from a metaphor

"Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boyreceives a writing credit for inventing a dandelionfour leaf clover metaphor present in its lyrics."

Also didn't know about the Japanese bonus "I'm not sorry"

RHCP sold 105k this week. If blink comes close to that, the numbers are already pretty good.

The question is: will blink have a shot at #1 with California going against Maxwell?

Surely blink have more relevance than Chili Willy these days. The kings of filler tracks.
Although Carpool Kareoke would've got them plenty of free publicity

If we're reaching for references I thought maybe "Black shirt. Black skirt" might have been a super tenuous reference to "Black coat, white shoes, black hat" in Time Bomb by Rancid. (Unless it's some Bauhaus thing I've never heard of).

It's only right that Blink sell more records than The Peppers after bailing them out at Weenie Roast.

Gotcha, I was wondering if it was more straight up band names or lyrical references

"I lost my head on the door" could be a reference to The Cure's record (The Head On The Door) too...

    @TheBenThomas

I am also curious about the crossover song that @Jason Tate mentioned...are you allowed to talk about that yet?
