I'm not into them, but reading his review made me contemplate checking out the new album.

The only editorial board that is worse than the WSJ one was Investor's Business Daily's. It was a straight up hack job. That paper is on the verge of going under though, they had to cut their editorial staff and now only publish weekly, so I am happy about that. I read the WSJ everyday and the contrast between the bulk of the paper and the opinion section is mind-boggling.

I probably average 2 or 2.5 a day with all the other reading materials that pass through my desk.

    UGH

A local paper does this and it pisses me off, I’ll click links to its website and it’s like “one dollar for 10 more articles”

How about I’m not digging my credit card out of my wallet to enter my info in the amount of time it takes me to read the damn article

I just got into them this week haha. wanted to see what I was missing and it's like an alternate universe 2000s, really cool.

I think at this point the opinions section for most pubs is bad by design. like, essentially cashing in on outrage clicks or generating discussion over a title that misrepresents things in a wildly irresponsible manner. I can't back this up with evidence so I'm not married to this position but not much else makes sense to me regarding those situations. the NYT comes to mind too

I get your frustration, but I think it's important to support local newspapers. I just subscribed to mine as they announced they were bankrupt haha.

You're definitely right about their editorials being designed to grab attention. I think what makes the WSJ so much worse though is that the majority of people who read the WSJ are conservative AF, so the editorial section caters to that. It drives me insane when I see some of those articles.

I needed NYT in college for their sweet archive and all those primary/secondary sources for my research papers.

oh, that too, but at this point in history a conservative doesn't even need a legitimate news outlet to confirm their biases. a fb post or YouTube video is enough and I'm sure they encounter that more often. not a justification ofc but I guess I don't think much of other people
