  3. Fun fact: which two teams have not won a single game this season against an opponent that currently has a .500 record or better? Mariners (0-10) and Yankees (0-5)

By the way, Dbacks have the most wins against teams currently .500 or better, with 15. Cards have second-most with 14.

I think strength-of-schedule is a really interesting way to evaluate teams in the early parts of the season. In other sports (especially football) strength-of-schedule gets more attention I guess because the sample size is smaller, but in baseball where you're going to be playing 2-6 series against 18-20 teams over the course of 162 games, strength-of-schedule is a wash unless you're in a really weak or really strong division.

Good point. Like the Mariners are definitely overachieving, and the Yankees maybe a little bit. But I see the Yankees making the postseason because they will get healthy, and the Mariners I think will miss it.

How many Hall of Famers did Mike Trout pass in April?

An article full of fun facts about HOFers that Trout is passing seemingly every day

Against Hall of Famer Don Drysdale, [Willie McCovey] hit .336/.459/.759 in 151 plate appearances. Against Hall of Famer Tom Seaver, he hit .260/.376/.584 in 94 PA. Against Hall of Famer Steve Carlton, he hit .301/.395/.507 in 86 PA. Indeed, against all Hall of Famers, he hit .258/.358/.488 -- which is, more or less, what Hall of Famers Jim Rice and Orlando Cepeda hit in their entire careers. In other words, against Hall of Famers, Willie McCovey still hit like a Hall of Famer.

If Trout went an entire season without reaching base once, he'd still have a higher career OBP than Biggio. If he went two entire seasons without a hit, he'd still have a higher slugging percentage.

CGSO for Thor and he drove in the only run--himself--on a homer. I used to call those super wins as a kid

I have Alvarado, too. I think since Alvarado is a lefty, and Castillo is a righty, the manager has two closers for whatever the situation dictates is stronger for a RHP or LHP.

I thought our strength of schedule was pretty tough considering how stacked the Yanks and Sox were. Unless this is what you mean and I am misunderstanding

Yeah we’ve gone a couple seasons now with having situational closers. After Castillo and Alvarado got knocked around pretty good a week or so ago, Cash elected to have Pagan save some games for us. They look to have some of that swag back in their game so hopefully they will continue to lock down the 8th and 9th consistently.
