I straight up had to look up who is even on that label anymore, they straight up don’t have one notable band.

lol i had to do the same, i'd say they've got a couple notable currently active bands (rev horton heat is sorta notable i guess?) and i like the tossers and seeker but yeah, it's insane that those bands are still on the label at all.

I’m not the biggest ADTR fan but small shout out to those guys for taking Tony Victory to court and being able to stick it to him. The stories I heard as a teen into my twenties made it clear that guy is a genuine p.o.s.

Nightmare Logic was a 2016 release? Jesus fuck, I feel old.

ADTR was the swan song of that label’s relevance

I still jam ADTR to this day. Probably all due to teen nostalgia, but fuck it, they're just plain good. And yeah, fuck Victory Records. Wasn't it them that screwed over Streetlight Manifesto too? I forget.

Also re: the Mgla situation. Yeah, it really boggles my mind the headspace people have to be in the justify getting mad at people not wanting to support NS bullshit. It's so alien to me.

Sadly, Victory probably still make a lot of money repressing vinyl of their glory days.

Also, it was around 2010 when bands really started speaking up about the label it’s all downhill from there.

    Re: mgla

I'm just amused people are getting mad at shows getting cancelled because people are presenting facts. All of the mgla guys clearly played in Clandestine Blaze's live band. Typically (at least in America; I'm not 100% sure how libel laws work in Europe), that's enough to prove to a court that legal action was a stupid move. But what do I know?

Furthermore, associating Mikko doesn't necessarily say you espouse shitty viewpoints yourself, but it does say you're willing to look past it because you're friends/think he's a good dude/etc. So I mean...you can't really be surprised when people are calling you out thinking you're sharing a similar headspace. I'm still figuring out how I feel about this myself since mgla is probably my favorite black metal band I've come across in the last five years and puts on one hell of a live show, but I usually am hesitant to support bands that have even tacit ties to antisemitism, NS, etc. It also sucks to learn that the vocalist of Deathspell Omega is a shithead, but that's really become par for the course with Finnish black metal dudes these days. Sigh.

This is a collective about Tony and his shitty ways in detail from 2007 regarding TBS, Atreyu, Hatebreed, Hawthorne Heights and others. It’s long but might be interesting to those who aren’t familiar with the Victory History.

Saw Psycroptic, Cannabis Corpse, Gorod and Micawber last night. All 4 bands were killer. Highly recommend catching this tour if it comes your way.

if you're not high as a kite and moshing with a dude dressed as bud, you don't get the full cannabis corpse experience.

KAT KATZ (Ex-ANb) Speaks Out on Her Departure and The Misogyny In Metal -

I’ve met Katz before and she was a very nice and cool person, so it really sucks to read this.

    This part really stuck out:
“I thought I had a good friendship with the drummer in Salome. When he decided he wanted a sexual relationship and I said no, he resorted to the typical pattern of bullying and gaslighting. For years, I kept trying to make our relationship work as bandmates until I realized I was the only one of us trying. I promised myself then that I wouldn’t pay the price for someone else’s selfishness again. When my ANb bandmates showed the same disrespect for me, I left before they did more damage.”

For those who don’t know, he currently plays bass in Darkest Hour.

I thought they were awesome. Of course I was smoking a blunt in the front row and a dude in a giant bud costume was moshing behind me. I'll try to post pictures later.

Same! Except I saw dead to fall open for them on the 2015 undoing ruin tour. They brought out a massive inflatable shark during chum bucket, crowd destroyed it lol.

As for all the darkest hour nostalgia, they're the band that got me into death metal back in 2005 with undoing ruin. I had that album on non stop...sound the surrender is why I picked up guitar. That album really is special to me.

I'm loving the Chum Bucket in the post. Knew what you meant, but now I feel like Plankton should've definitely been playing DTF in his restaurant.

  25. I think the video for "Convalescence" was on a Victory Records sampler CD that came with that first Hawthorne Heights album, and that's how I found out about them lol.
