I’m seriously cackling over the idea that a teenager in 2019 wouldn’t go see Blink because they’re not playing a bunch of new material, as if no teenager today would listen to or relate to their older material. That’s like saying teenagers wouldn’t listen to Nirvana because Kurt is dead and they don’t play shows anymore.

 

I love their old material, just not paying $50 to see 66% of the band perform it.

 

God the drama (or maybe fake drama) about who should have headlined the pop disaster tour. Personally always felt like they should have flipped coins or decided based on the city as to who closed since both bands were already the top of the genre.

Matt doesn't try to be Tom. Last time I went in 2016 he didn't feel obligated to make terrible dick jokes and it seemed like he wanted to play the songs.

 

Not a single person said that, multiple people questioned why he has a problem explaining to a kid why a black person can use a word a white kid shouldn't use, given the totality of what a Blink-182 show entails. That was not answered.

Last weekend the band played Enema of the State in full while talking about the drugs being used at their concert on stage. Are you kidding with this?

 

I’ll never forget taking my 3 year old to see blink. I’m only bummed I couldn’t do it sooner.

 

Exactly, like what sounds better: Matt being himself or him trying to pretend to be Tom? Matt is a solid addition to the band and the time I saw him play with the band, he did a fantastic job. Tom is gone and it’s pointless to pout over that.

Like he doesn't sound like he's trying to imitate his voice. And is Tom better at playing the riffs Tom wrote? Sure but it's a wash when you consider how little effort Tom actually put into playing them live so that's a fake argument lol

Do I want more passive aggressive Mark/Tom banter that when looked back on it's obvious they didn't love being on stage together? Nope sure don't need that haha

 

"Only 6 new songs"? That's 40% of their new record and it's not trying to "fool" anyone, it's putting on a show for their fans new and old. People that go to see a band want to see the songs they know. People going to a Blink-182 show want to see Blink-182 songs. Spinning this as trying to "fool" anyone makes no sense at all.

Like ten people give a fuck about pop-punk in 2019. Their last tour was massively diverse in age. To say they only played to 40-year old white dudes on their biggest tour in years is just not true.

Virtually no one's 'first single ever' get them immediately into arenas. If their first single ever went gold, in 2019, they'd be well on their way to playing massive shows, however.

There is zero way to take what California did, and the success it had, and spin it as anything beside a massive diversification of their fanbase.

I'm sorry I can't stop laughing that in 2019 people are still talking about "integrity as artists" about BLINK-182. The most blatant "yeah we fucking sold out" band maybe ever. They had their naked asses on fucking Target trapper keepers and pens.

I miss the good old days when Tom was in the band and they had integrity. That concert inside a Doritos bag was an artistic statement beyond anything Lil Wayne could do

Easily the two biggest crowd responses last time I saw them: First Date and All The Small Things. 22,000 people. Who were they fooling? Lol

 

I don't understand why people think that fans of a pop punk band ONLY listen to pop punk. Blink 182 one of my favorite bands, but for the most part I don't listen to pop punk. I grew up on hip hop and britpop. Not only do I think that most music lovers have diverse taste, I think that most Blink 182 fans aren't typical pop punk fans.

There's a reason why that Blink 182/Linkin Park show in NYC was gonna be at a 55,000 seat stadium.
