Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Tha Carter II is an incredible feat in hip hop

I'm tryna think of possible openers, and it feels like any artist in the world could open and it'd work.

I'd say Yungblud or Waterparks could be cool.

All those great openers you listed (Fenix TX, JEW, STD, No Doubt) were all before 2005! Aside from Weezer, they haven't catered to my tastes at all since the first reunion.
I'm hoping for these rumors to be true because I'm a fan, but I wouldn't think it's too unrealistic. They toured with Cypress Hill in 2004 and Bubba Sparxx in 2003.

I'd put III above it but not by much. And when you cut all the filler out, V is actually pretty incredible.

  5. (Relatively) No one isn’t going to blink because of the opener. Plenty of more folks will go see blink because of the opener. That’s such a great position to be in.

The only terrible opener they’ve had since the reunion was that band georggin was managing that opened for them at the cosmopolitan in Vegas. I wish DJ Spider would tour with them 100% of the time.

I’d say blink/Lil Wayne co-headlining if that’s the case. Pretty cool throwback tour

My little one wants to see Blink so bad, but if Lil Wayne is doing a co headliner with them I can't take him unless Blink goes on last.

They do. Both Mark and Matt sounded so so good during that Back to the Beach show.

  9. What happens or is said at a Lil Wayne show that isn't at a Blink show? I got a contact high at the last Blink show and there was a giant on fire "Fuck" on stage most of the time. Haha.

  10. Lots of kids at back to the beach. Lots of weed. Lots of “fucks”

Exactly. blink probably swears more honestly!

And chances are they’ll play this.

    Idk, you're probably right, but...

I still feel blink kind of have to prove themselves and convince people to see them live. 33% of the original lineup is gone, and since they're still subbornly playing old songs and appealing to nostalgia half of the songs sound weird live. So I feel like they need all the help they can get to convince people to come see them

And that's what separates blink from every other band more or less-- the casual/mainstream fans who don't know or care about the lineup change will come no matter what, but the hardcore fans of them and the genre are the ones who need convincing.

The last major tour did so well partially because they got AAR, ATL & ADTR as openers and had a strong unified lineup that appealed to fans of the genre. Doing a cross-genre tour kills part of the draw for both artists by alienating some of their fan community because they are the people who care about the full lineup and the scene as a whole.

Actually if they played before Wayne you could leave early so...

  14. The last tour did well because Blink-182 were on it and they just released their biggest single in a decade.

Now I Know This World Isn’t Spinning Just For Me Prestigious

I think your assumption about ‘hardcore’ fans is way off. I know a lot of hardcore fans that love the new lineup and will go regardless of the opener. Heck, I’m one of them.

  17. You can explain to a kid "Family Reunion" but can't explain why a black person uses a word your kid shouldn't in some of their songs?

    Things have changed.

Wow, this thread got real bad huh

No one likes the All-American Rejects enough to plop down $50+ to see them play an opening set. The blink tour did well because they had a #1 album and are still huge.

Ohhhh be prepared for so many white suburban frat bros and sorority girls dropping n-bombs while just vibing out and then choosing the right filter.

    I'd beg to differ--

Blink came to my city twice on their last touring cycle-- On the main California tour with ADTR & AAR they played the 18,000 capacity Xcel Energy Center. The following year they did a show here with just a local opener at the 8,000 capacity Mystic Lake Casino and didn't even sell it out if I remember correctly. The openers absolutely played a big part in it.

The crowd was insane when I saw them after California came out. I honestly couldn't believe it. We were 3/4 of the way back on the lawn and it was still super crowded way up there. That kind of told me that they could probably bring anyone on tour and do just fine lol

I don't think they would play before considering they'll have a new album out at that point.

    A (Cancelled) Dork Prestigious

    hahahahahaha what

  25. Of course the first show in a market, for the main album tour, does better.

The openers helped sell tickets, that's why bands have openers! But the idea that they played a "big part" for one of the biggest bands playing shows for the first time in a long time with a new album and massive single is just silly.

This obsession with some of trying to discredit the band's current success is just motivated reasoning of the worst kind.
