I actually think this makes The Cure *more* likely.

Hoping for Green Day or Foo Fighters, hoping it's not The Killers

Probably somebody completely left field though

Don't know about that. Assuming there's no big reunion they're throwing a ton of money at, I feel like they could afford both the Cure and Blink-182. But I might be underestimating Blink's value as a headliner at this point.

I know they're a popular band, but they aren't at peak popularity... And it's not like they're an incredibly rare band to see live at this point.

Y'know what? It's telling that it doesn't say something like "only US festival appearance" or something like that. I'm in the "more likely" category now. Haha.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Blink’s booking rate had to be discounted after everything they’ve done in the past year.

I think he meant Angels & Airwaves not the Cure

I wouldn't be shocked if the Cure are the third headliner, just curious if it's not them who it would be

Oh yeah. My bad. That makes way more sense.

I was only saying that I think Andy misinterpreted your comment on blink ruling out Angels & Airwaves haha

I would love the Cure, but I won't hold my breath. No idea which way that will go.

Yeah - I feel like they probably cut them a bit of a deal, or stipulated they would have to play EOTS or something.

Speaking of an out-of-left-field 3rd headliner, how shocked were people when Jawbreaker was revealed? Or the Misfits? I'm not a big fan of either band so I'm not sure what was out in the ether, but were there rumblings? Any hint at all? Or was it just a complete blindside? I wonder who's out there that can still get that reaction.

And, dear god, just not the Killers.

    Whatever. Forever.

Starting Line is in Cleveland on 9/13, maybe Riot?

There's no way that they're just coming randomly to Cleveland with no other surrounding dates the same weekend as Riot Fest haha

I'm bummed I will miss the CLE show but glad I'll see them at Riot

The list get smaller and smaller with each reunion. Bikini Kill are doing reunion shows this year, but it's not a Riot Fest get, though I think they are still likely to be at Riot right? Probably?

Operation Ivy, Minor Threat, Fugazi, off the top of my head. None of which are probably ever going to happen.

I think the Enema play is a lock... And I enjoyed it at BTTB this past weekend way more than I thought I would. Skiba sounded like shit on a few songs, but it was still a blast.

Little bit weird when Mark said "You'll be fine, you fucking asshole!" at the end of "Don't Leave Me" like Tom says on the live album, but other than that...

Jawbreaker, the Misfits, and the Replacements were all pretty big surprises that blindsided everybody. There had been rumblings for a few years that Jawbreaker had been practicing together as a band every now and again, but the general response from the band whenever it would come up is "But we don't really plan on doing anything right now."

I think the Misfits and the Replacements were a bigger shocker because of some of the volatility between the members. Jawbreaker was a big surprise, but in a way it was only a matter of time.

There's a few bands that could get a similar reaction, I think, but maybe not on that level. I can think of bands a significantly smaller portion of people would lose their minds over, but nobody at that same level. Maybe Operation Ivy or Fugazi?

My Chemical Romance would probably break the Internet, but everybody already knows that's only a matter of time so it wouldn't get the same reaction (but would definitely draw better).

I already kind of regret starting ANOTHER one of these conversations, haha.
I think you're right. Op Ivy or Fugazi would be kind of mind blowing and would be at about the Jawbreaker level. Maybe a bit bigger, but not the Misfits. I'm still of the mindset that WHEN MCR does something, it will be in Jersey/NYC/Philly. They're one of those bands that are inextricably linked to that area, at least in my mind and while they would hit Chicago eventually, it would kick off there. I hope I'm wrong though.

Op Ivy would be way bigger than Jawbreaker (crowd wise)... if 10% of the people that have worn their shirts showed up at Douglas Park, you wouldn't be able to move

I will be surprised if Bikini Kill doesn’t play this year

Fair point about OpIvy. Though, I do wonder how much bigger it would be. A lot of people wear the band's shirts, but that doesn't always translate to "Holy shit -- gotta travel to Chicago to see them!"

They're on Pitchfork in July, though, so they're out.

Same. Feels like a very obvious sub-headliner to me.
