They also talk about it in Ultron. But it’s okay to not remember. I have a very specific memory at times for the oddest things. Plus, I rewatched the whole MCU leading up to this. So it was all fairly fresh for me.

But the reasoning of “its not like this in the comics” is perhaps the worst/weakest critical take on these types of movies. While they are inspired by them, they are by no means shackled to them and their reasons and motivations.

I dont think that lines up though because the first time she meets the OG Avengers its in that post credit scene and when she brings Tony back that kind of would nullify the reaction they had to that post credit scene if that makes sense.

Yeah it def makes more sense now that you're saying it...which also means it's even more confusing if you see her appear in this and never see Captain Marvel lol

The captain marvel stuff is def one of the bigger misses in this for me. She gets no real introduction to the characters. We see she ask, “where’s Fury” in the post credit scene and then she already knows them all here.

Understandable, but you could say the same thing about Infinity War opening with the big battle already having taken place, Valkyrie, Korg, and other Asguardians escaping and Thanos already having taken the Power Stone from Xandar.

Personally with the amount of story thats needed for these gigantic movies, I dont mind filling in the gaps with stuff that would that ultimately wouldnt be necessary to main plot of the movie.

Dramatizing connections with characters who are meeting for the first time is way more important than CGI battles and wish this and Infinity War spared some time on the latter in favor of the former

Also now that Im finally delving into reviews and reactions, I just fucking love when so many people love a movie together. I love the positivity. So grateful so many people are satisfied.

I love the power of movies.

Eh, but none of that was hyped up like Captain Marvel was. I don’t think I’d say it was necessary, as the movie works without it. It’s jist a miss to give her some more character moments. She is basically just used as a weapon here. Tbf, lots of characters had very little time and had only moments as well. This movie ultimately was about the original 6, and I’m sure we will get lots of Brie down the road. I just wanted more.

Definitely. Especially with a media culture that I feel is getting increasingly over-saturated and fans getting more and more egotistical, entitled and unpleasable when it comes to viewing art. Its nice to have something like this where the creators bent over backwards to please everyone and somehow managed to pull it off. Theres obviously going to be people who are underwhelmed, complain about the time travel plotholes and inconsistencies and all that, but for the overwhelming majority loving something as grandiose as this feels so good.

Especially after all the drama with DC, Star Wars, etc... The MCU is like the "Friends" of movie franchises. Its comfort cinema

I get your point but I can’t sign on to the Friends comparison haha. I think Friends is horrendous.

Yea, the reaction here is so refreshing after The Last Jedi stuff. I loved TLJ, but the toxicity in the fandom was so bad for so long after it.

This has been pure joy. Even when discussing what could have been better it what we wish would have happened, it’s been a fun discussion.

Agreed. That said, as I just mentioned in the TROS thread I dont mind if TROS is as divisive. The chaos around TLJ and how that hate infected me legitimately helped me grow as a person in how I view trivial bullshit like other peoples opinions and how I interact with others with opposing opinions.

Im just super grateful the MCU can bring so many people together. Especially probably one of the biggest conclusions in the history of storytelling ever.

Eh, being divisive is one thing. But TLJ brought out and gave voice to the absolute worst fans. And Mark foolishly kept egging them on. He still doesn’t get it. Fuck that noise into the ground.

Legit every time Captain Marvel did literally anything in this movie I was cringing inside thinking “they’re going to complain about this aren’t they? This too. And this. And also that.”

I’m proud to say that when my friend complained about the women team up moment and was undeniably annoyed with it I challenged him on it.

I personally love the choice which literally took only 30-60 seconds(however contrived or unlikely they’d all be at the same place at the same time) that probably empowered/sent a beaming smile to every woman and girl watching.

The # of tickets were released.
Endgame sold an estimated 38.8 million tickets in the US this weekend, beating TFA 28.5 million tickets in its opening weekend.
