Too bad he won't return for their final tour. Didn't a dude in MCS come back for the final tour?

This seems like it came out of nowhere. I will hopefully be able to catch them 4 more times. I am glad for the fact that they are ending on their own terms. For some reason, I don't think they are coming back this time.

Anberlin did the same thing a few years ago.

They came to Bloomington on the second leg. I made the trip down there and it was absolutely worth it.

That loneliness is not a function of solitude.

Ah man, this has always been an important band to me.

Ocean Avenue will always be one of those "pillar" albums to me that helped form the rest of my music tastes growing up. I've consistently enjoyed their albums through the years.

Also, a Yellowcard show was the first conect my wife and I went to when were dating a few years ago. It was such a cool show. They were in a clearly bad mood in a way I've never seen a band be when they came out onto the stage because they got moved from the large venue in Indy to a smaller stage in the back. Understandable that this would bum them out. But then they started playing and the crowd was SUPER into the music and knew the words to their new stuff in addition to Ocean Avenue, which is what they were touring at the time (it was the acoustic tour). They brought out their electric instruments and played almost an entire second show with them and had so much energy, I've never seen a band feed off a crowd like that.

I believe they tweeted after the show thanking the crowd for the special show. Very cool to see a band be brought out of a funk by the fans. Kind of felt like returning the favor for years of them doing that for me haha.

My 1st YC show which was when they weren't as big yet and it went horribly. My bf's dad bought the tickets on his credit card and we had the paper tickets. My boyfriend picked me up from my basketball game and he drove like a maniac to get us there. The guy at the front door wouldn't let us in bc we didn't have his dad's credit card. We ended up having to call his dad to tell them to let us in. We missed half the set and I was fuming.

Not happy they are calling it quits but I think it's cool that bands like them and MCS are doing farewell tours so their fans get to see them and not just announcing one random day they are done. New song sounds like something that would be off of the next album after Southern Air if they didn't go the LAS route.

    Well that's pretty sad.

Paper Walls is their best album IMO.

Wow I almost cried reading this. I was just listening to Encore earlier today and hoping Jason was right that they weren't ending things :/

Pretty sad they aren't including St Louis on their final tour, but I'll have to try to get to Chicago or Detroit.

Now I'm even more bummed that I didn't go and see them when they came to Australia with Mayday Parade last year. One of the best discographies ever to be produced. Gonna miss these guys.

I've always really liked Yellowcard. They didn't like, change my life or anything. But I've been a reasonable fan for years. Definitely bummed to see them go. I'll have to try and catch them on their last tour.

Going to miss this band!! Saw them twice, once on the Lights and Sounds tour when I was 14 in 2005, and then in 2014 for their Ocean Avenue acoustic tour. Next to Anberlin and Cartel they are in my top 3 bands. Love all their discography and am excited for the final album and tour

Wow. I mean, when I saw that it was self titled I think I knew this was the end, but damn this is hitting hard. They have been one of my favorites for so many years. These last shows are going to be special.

    Thank you for everything.

they looked pretty 'out of it' during the NFG tour....this isn't shocking at all. I'm glad they've come to their senses and i wish more of my favorite bands would do this (cough; reel big fish/Used; cough) instead of forcing yourself to go through the motions.

Motion City set the wave. Go off into the sunset on your own terms!

I love Lift a Sail! It just took me some time to adjust to it. Once I did, I was blown away by it.
I would love to see a Paper Walls anniversary tour, as that one is my absolute favorite. (Listening to it now) Oh, well. Seems unlikely. At this point, I just need to see them before they go. Farewell tours are such needed closure.

Edit: Now that I think about it, the new song reminds me of both Paper Walls and Lift a Sail.
