I think Left Alone is the most overrated song on this album so far.

I'm about halfway through and all I can think to myself is...Tom who?

Thank you Jason Tate, for assuring me that I am not actually crazy. Much appreciated.

Still only listened to four songs, but the main thing that sticks out is that it seems like they share a lot of the same parts. In the past, it seemed like Mark held one part and Tom held the other. Even with the harmonies, the vast majority of the time, Tom and Mark would record the harmonies over their OWN parts (instead of with each other). Matt and Mark seem to be singing together the majority of the time in each song.

I've always loved Skiba but wasn't sure how I'd feel about him on a Blink album.

I'M COMPLETELY SOLD. Skiba steals the show. Some of his best work can be found here and honestly, after first listen, I already feel like I'd hate to hear another new Blink album without him.

This album fucking rocks and it the perfect record to bring this genre back into the mainstream.

    Highlights:

    1. Cynical (SKIBA!!!!)
    2. Los Angeles (Digging how huge and weird this is)
    3. No Future (SKIBAAAAAA)
    4. Home is Such a Lonely Place
    5. Kings of the Weekend (Fucking love how heavy the guitars are at points)
    6. Teenage Satellites
    7. Left Alone (Already one of my fave Blink songs)
    8. San Diego
    9. The Only Thing The Matters (Skiba's Verse :-O )

So many solid singles on this record. It's going to sell millions and millions.

  9. Peachfuzz

I'll be with you the whole way.

    Edit: this feels soooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!!!!

I have not heard this yet, as I never know where to find these leaks, but reading through everyone's comments makes me really excited for the record when I do finally hear it!

We talk too much / We talk in circles

The Good: (In No Particular Order)

Cynical (Should've been fleshed out as far as structure.)
She's Out of Her Mind (Would fit on Enema.)
Los Angeles (Love the mood and bridge.)
Sober (My favorite use of Na Na Na.)
Home is Such a Lonely Place (Pound for pound, it might be the best song on the record; well-written in every department.)
Kings of the Weekend (The guitar finally gets to shine in the bridge.)
Teenage Satellites (Would fit on Neighborhoods quite well. The verse is very 'Up All Night.')
Left Alone (Solid balance of all their sounds, especially with the DED/Neighborhoods intro. Should've been a single instead of Future Rabbit.)
California (Love the mood and atmosphere.)

    Indifference:

    Bored to Death
San Diego (I wrote the verse riff about 8 years ago; I have it on a demo somewhere. The chorus reminds me of another song that I can't quite put my finger in yet.)
The Only Thing That Matters (Too derivative of their old work, which isn't a bad thing; just doesn't work for me despite Mark's bass lines.)
Built This Pool (The music warranted more, but I get it: haha.)
Brohemian Rhapsody (The music warranted more, but I get it: haha.)

    The Bad:

Rabbit Hole (Deleted from my iTunes)
No Future (Deleted from my iTunes)

Judgement: It's definitely 'The Force Awakens' of Blink records as it has many shades of Enema and Jacket. There's even a little bit of 'sonic continuity' as far as Untitled, DED and Neighborhoods (but far less than Enema and Jacket). Mark and Matt definitely complement each other well and I'd love to hear more of them on future records (especially the EP consisting of songs written pre-Feldmann). I don't miss Tom or his vocals but I do miss his guitar playing. As I feared, the guitar doesn't drive this record. It sounds good but it rarely defines a song like Tom's work would. Mark and Travis drive these songs, musically, while Matt just stays in his lane, helping Travis/Mark's parts shine even more. Overall, this experiment is not a failure and it warrants a future with Matt Skiba, not Tom DeLonge.

    Grade: 7.9

Early Favorites: Home is Such a Lonely Place; California; Left Alone.

Interesting. I actually really, really like No Future. But to each his own.

Appreciate your comments re: guitars being a bit subdued on the record. Would be cool to hear some Matt guitar solos on their next efforts.

  16. ok, ok, ok... it's been decided.

i'm downloading this when i get home from work in 3 hours, picking up my brother Kyle, driving somewhere cool, and then we're going to listen to this together straight through.

dammit guys, i'm so weak for Blink... haha.

ALSO, i caved and listened to "Home" and HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.

Just listened for the first time, And I can't even explain how happy I am right now. I loved pretty much every song and blink seem to be better than ever. There's definitely a couple of hits on this thing. My early favorites so far are Cynical, Sober, Left Alone and California, but like I said, I loved all of them. BLINK IS BACK!!!!

Teenage Satellites proved to be a grower, really enjoyed it on my 2nd listen. I don't think this album has a single swing and miss

    @supercooldan

why would you delete songs from an album in itunes instead of just making a playlist or something

also the only thing that matters kinda reminds me of st. jimmy lol

  24. after i listened to "home" i thought to myself, "shit... maybe i should listen to this album alone the first time through so i can cry and look like an idiot without anyone seeing me, and then invite my brother over once i collect myself again." haha.
