Listening to the album right now. So far, I'm really loving Los Angeles and Sober. I can definitely see the Patrick Stump influence in the ladder.

 

teenage satellites mark sounds like Dwarf Invasion by Reggie and the Full Effect to me.

I said this earlier in the thread so I'm sure it's buried, but I think Mark's melodies are SO good, but his voice just doesn't have enough character to it sometimes. So far from what I've heard with this line up and collection of songs, he benefits so much from having Matt because he's got more personality to his voice. Mark's choruses really shine this time around, and he doesn't sound so monotone during the verses because he's trading off with Matt so often.

 

I don't want to turn this into a Tom DeLonge thread, but the difference between the lyrical content in +44 and this album is pretty drastic. You could feel the bitterness towards Tom in half of that album, but I don't think there's very much (if anything at all?) about him on this album. Speaks volumes to how over the situation Mark seems to be.

 

Jason, what are your thoughts on them incorporating these songs into their new tour? I'd love for them to keep it fresh but I have a feeling we'll get 4 of them.

 

Is Home gonna be the crossover single?

 

First listen through. Like all of the songs but it's pretty all over the place style. Not complaining, it's just interesting.. Love Los Angeles and Cynical. I could listen to songs in that vein all day long..

 

I hope we get 4-5 for sure. I can think of so many of these that would just be an absolute blast live.

Matt's bridge in "San Diego" ... I've wanted to talk about that for a week now.

 

I haven't been able to listen to all the songs because I gotta go to work, but what songs are the Matt only ones ?

 

The only songs I'm not crazy about are "California" and unfortunately "Home is Such a Lonely Place." I think the slow stuff on this album isn't as great as their previous work, but the faster songs are amazing.

I don't want to either and this should be my last comment about the situation, but Mark is Human. I think it would impossible to not want to prove a point to Tom.

 

One of the best parts of the album. "San Diego" might be my favorite song. This is Skiba's best vocal work in his career.
