Yeah, I mean the thing with Brand New for me is that I'll go through stages of listening to them solidly for weeks, and then abstain from them completely for probably just as long. Then return and be like OH BOY. I remember somebody else saying something similar a couple pages back. Might've been Kevin? I forget. But now the band is coming to an end I want to make damn sure I soak it all up and enjoy the ride while it lasts!
Ah man, beyond jealous! Me and my friend genuinely almost bought tickets to one of the Canada shows, but looking at plane tickets made us wince. It was a pleasant dream anyway haha! Who knows, in 11 days time you may well be stood there listening to a new single or something...

Good grief you haven't listened to Sealed To Me yet?! Hopefully they play it for you then, damn. You've got some serious restraint haha! And yeah, probably shouldn't suggest something as optimistic as that hahaha.

Yeah! I don't have a solid reason for not listening to it. I guess I just would like my first experience with a new Brand New song to be something other than a Youtube video.

In a perfect world (or in a perfect dream) they'd play TDAG front to back, then a set of various tracks from the other records, and then play the new album in full. I would be obliterated.

I almost never listen to a song for the first time via a bootleg recording. I used to all the time, but it just never does the song justice. I refuse to do it now. I can wait for a legit recording.

Honestly, hearing you say that just makes me feel bad for watching the videos now hahaha. That'll be such a cool experience hearing it for the first time. I'm kinda jealous now.
God yeah. I mean, I'm still deeply saddened that I didn't get to go to one of those album shows where they played TDAG and Daisy in full. I would have left the building a different person ha!

  7. heard sealed to me live for the first time on the Canadian tour. it was not very good.

EDIT: that said, they sounded phenomenal and it was a great show. I just don't like the song.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the chorus but I do like the verses an awful lot.

Yeah, I guess I just fear that I'll hear it in poor quality and have a poor first impression of the song because of that. I don't mind waiting at all.
Don't feel bad! I just knew as soon as I heard about new songs being played at shows I didn't want to potentially taint my own experience by caving in and listening. But theres nothing wrong with doing so, I'm honestly surprised that I've made it this long.

I still haven't listened to Sealed to Me or I am a Nightmare. I've spoiled enough albums for myself that I want to listen to this album in full. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I'm seeing them live next month so my first taste of these songs will be live, not on an album.

Thing is I actually did this with The 1975's new album, so why I couldn't do it with my all-time favourite band I don't know...You've inspired me to try though, from here on in haha. It'd be a much purer experience, I can see that.

I totally forgot about the live videos for The 1975! I didn't listen to those either for the same reason. I obviously can't be certain, but I'd like to think that abstaining from listening early made that album hit harder the first time I heard it, and therefore will have the same effect with BN.

With faster songs like IAAN and Mene, I think hearing them live for the first time would be strange. Having heard Mene live last year, had I not heard it prior to that I would've just mistook it for a chaotic cover or something. If that makes sense? It would've just been like a wall of noise to me in a live scenario, whereas a slower song live for the first time would be much easier to take in.
With that album I had already heard Love Me, Ugh, Change of Heart, She's American, and Somebody Else, so I'd definitely agree with what you're saying about it being harder-hitting - it was kind of underwhelming to listen to the album in full for the first time having to stop myself skipping through songs I'd already heard in anticipation of the next one.

Next Show - Foals April 22nd

Yup! I spent a few songs towards the end of the set standing next to him actually. I watched most of it when I saw it went up on YouTube and spotted myself a few times. Pretty cool video to have and look back on.

Just curious, the vinyl singles for IAAN said they were shipping in late June. Has anyone gotten a shipping confirmation yet? The consensus going around is that it may have a flyer for the new album or something. I didn't order one, so I'm hoping to hear info from you fine people. Haha

I doubt it will either, but it's the last shot I think we have at hearing anything before the next chunk of tour dates.

dreamt that the artwork and tracklist leaked last night. Mene was track 1, and Good Man was on there, the rest of the track names were super long. no sealed to me, don't remember if I am A Nightmare was.
people were debating on here if any of them were songs we knew but with different names.
artwork was similar to Mene, but had some red mixed in there somehow.
