Yeah, that was my first thought as well.

 

Well, you see TFA had the ruins of a star destroyer in the desert. And, well, things need to be bigger, but slightly the same, in a sequel.

So we have the ruins of the Death Star...in water!

I knew JJ would bring the goods but I'm so glad it looks as awesome as it does. If it's actually as good as it looks then 2/3 great trilogies in one franchise ain't bad.

 

Notable absense is no Knights of Ren. still think theyll be in it, but surprised that there wasnt

 

Kylo's scar also moved from where it was in TFA. Things like this are small continuity errors, but not really a big deal. In my eyes at least.

There's also a lot in the Aftermath book series that deals with Palpatine's contingency plan should the Empire fail. He instructs them to go to Jakku, so it definitely has been setup in canon for him to return in some capacity or that he had some bigger plan.

 

I really hope these fan theories are wrong.

I think JJ's a pretty smart dude who understands that although there's a portion of the fans vehemently hated TLJ, there's also still a lot that loved it. I don't think he'll retcon everything in that movie to then alienate the fans that love the movie. Seems like a dumb idea. It would be very on brand for JJ to misdirect us with the trailer.

Whatever happens, I'm pretty hyped that I still see this going in million different ways. The unpredictability of this is fun.

 

I'm really excited that we already have a ton to talk about instead of just random predictions.

I can't imagine JJ having 100% autonomy...wouldn't his ideas have to be approved by Kennedy in the end?

 

Hahaha. God. For the last four years it seems I just wanna be offline and not around “fans” of like all the things I love. With the exception of most of this thread.

 

It would be the single dumbest move in movie history to be honest.
